This French group came to life after a musicians' meeting organized by Emmanuel Booz in summer 1971, which included brothers Alain and Bernard Labacci (on guitars and drums respectively), bassist Jean-Pierre Pouret and Zoo's founding member Michel Bonnecarrere, also on guitars. The name of Ophiucus is derived from a large constellation located around the celestial equator.

They all lived together in the small town of Flagy, where they rehearsed, and finally the Barclay label was the one that got much interested in releasing the band's debut back in late 1971.

The majority of the work is centered around psychedelic-folk and typical French songwriter stylings with acoustic guitars in evidence, poetic vocals and rather minimalistic soundscapes. Some orchestral passages are also present, while there are some light funky moves here and there, especially on the electric parts. Most of these lightweight tracks are interrupted by more experimental material, such as electric distorted jams, narrations or ethnic percussions.

An English version of the first album was prepared but never released back at the time, and this stuff was included as bonus material in the Musea's CD reissue.

Ophiucus issued one more album, "Salade chinoise", in 1973. There are no records of activities from them after this point, and it is assumed that they disbanded soon after.

Carnegie - Rock and roll symphony (1977) - 2001 (Symphonic Progressive Rock {US})

Mark e Clark tiveram
uma carreira bem-sucedida antes da Carnegie
como The Mark & Clark Band.

coletando poeira. No entanto, a Shroom Productions conseguiu

e violentos do guitarrista principal) e o material é intrinsecamente
orquestrado, apresentando alguns ritmos de direção e refrões cativantes.
A única falha é a baixa qualidade do som.

Carnegie was a 6-member American symphonic progressive rock

Mark and Clark had a successful career before

Their only album, "Rock and roll symphony", was never

commercial direction. The band members resisted fiercely and
to this day, the original tapes are still in the CBS/Sony vaults,
collecting dust. However, Shroom Productions managed
to dig up some demos and live recordings.

The choruses and grand pianos add some pomp and grandeur
that resemble Queen's glory days, but the song sometimes
reaches a complexity that resembles Yes or Gentle Giant.
The musicality is narrow (some explosive and violent solos by
the lead guitarist) and the material is intrinsically orchestrated,
featuring some directing rhythms and catchy choruses.
The only flaw is the poor sound quality.

Mauro Pagani - Mauro Pagani - 1978 (Progressive Folk/Fusion/World Music {Itália})

Mauro Pagani (Chiari, February 5, 1946) is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and Italian music producer. Mauro Pagani was part of the Premiata Forneria Marconi as a flutist, violinist and singer, and collaborated with many other Italian authors and musicians, including (mainly) Fabrizio De André, but also Gianna Nannini, Timoria, Ornella Vanoni, Roberto Vecchioni, Massimo Ranieri, Francesco Guccini, Luciano Ligabue and the 2009 Concerto del Primo Maggio with Caparezza. He is also the author of soundtracks. His inspirations include not only rock music but also blues and ethnic Arabic, Balkan and Middle Eastern music. He is one of Club Tenco's most award-winning artists with three plaques and a Tenco Award.

STORY

At the age of ten, Mauro began studying violin and soon after the flute, following the advice of his father (flutist). In the 1960s, he began his military career in various groups in the Brescia region, including a group with Giorgio Cordini: the Forneria Marconi (hence the name he proposed for the Premiata Forneria Marconi). After briefly playing with the Dalton group, his activity as a musician led him to approach I Quelli's group in 1970 during the recording of Fabrizio De André's "La buona novella". Their official entry into the band changed their name to I Krel, a name used only for three official tracks (45 rpm and one song included in a Dischi Ricordi compilation) and later on Premiata Forneria Marconi. In the years he played at Premiata Forneria Marconi, Pagani wrote all the lyrics, along with Peter Sinfield (King Crimson lyricist) on the English versions of the albums, and made a remarkable contribution to the group's sonorities. At Premiata Forneria Marconi, he played for seven years and after his 1975 Japan tour, he was featured by Japanese critics among the top 10 musicians in the world.

In 1974, he married translator Adalaura Quinque, receiving a violin as a wedding gift from Greg Lake (who brought Premiata Forneria Marconi to London, helping them greatly in their international success). In 1991 he became the father of Fernanda and, in 1997, Leonardo.

After leaving Premiata Forneria Marconi in 1977, he embarked on a music research journey, in particular research into ethnic Arab music, remaining an experiment-oriented bluesman.

In 1978, with the label Ascolto, he released his first solo album called "Mauro Pagani", which anticipates, in its sound and the search for contamination (fusion of different genres and styles), which will later be called World Music.

In 1979, he collaborated with Ensemble Alia Musica, which specializes in playing vocal and instrumental music from the Middle Ages, recording an album dedicated to "Cantigas de Santa Maria" and other 13th century Iberian compositions.

Also in 1979, he participated in the project "Carnascialia" with Demetrio Stratos and other established musicians, many of whom came from Canzoniere del Lazio, with the intention of revitalizing the popular sounds of central and southern Italy and, more generally, Mediterranean Europe. .

The second solo album is from 1981, "Sogno di una notte d'estate", conceived as the soundtrack of a piece by Gabriele Salvatores. From this, a movie and a new soundtrack were released, released in 1983 with the same title.

His career sees an important turning point in his collaboration with Fabrizio De André, which began in 1981 and lasted 14 years, with which he composed all the music of "Crêuza de mä" in 1984 (considered by critics to be a masterpiece and inserted by David Byrne among the ten most important records of the decade in the world) and "Le nuvole" in 1990, which features the famous Don Raffaè, whose works he also deals with production.

In 1988, Mauro participated in the Sanremo Festival with the rock group Figli di Bubba, who formed for the occasion together with Franz Di Cioccio, Roberto Manfredi, Sergio Vastano, Enzo Braschi, Roberto Gatti and Alberto Tonti.

In 1991, he released "Passa la bellezza", which contains the song "Davvero, davvero duettato" with Fabrizio De André, written in conjunction with Massimo Bubola (co-author of two other tracks on the album). The album receives Targa Tenco as the best work before the year. In 1997, he received a nomination for David di Donatello for the soundtrack to Gabriele Salvatores' Nirvana.

In 1998 he founded Officine Meccaniche in Milan, a recording studio of which artists such as Daniele Silvestri, Samuele Bersani, Le Vibrazioni, La Sintesi, Bluvertigo, Afterhours, Negramaro, Stefano Bollani, Muse, Franz Ferdinand, Elisa, Massimo Ranieri, Lacuna Coil passed. In the same year he was artistic director of the Concerto del Primo Maggio in Rome.

In 2000, he was a member of the Sanremo Festival's artistic-musical commission.

In 2001, Mauro Pagani began his activity as organizer of the event "Siena: la città aromatica", a summer music festival in the streets of Siena, culminating every year in a concert in Piazza del Campo.

In 2003, he began his collaboration with Luciano Riccardo Ligabue: with the Emilian artist, with whom he also played at the Campovolo concert in 2005, he collaborated decisively for the performance before the theatrical tour and later for the live album based on the album "Giro d'Italia" by Ligabue. Also in 2003, he released his third unreleased album, "Domani".

In 2004, he recorded "2004 Crêuza de mä", revisiting twenty years after the original record, with new arrangements and some unpublished ethnic-inspired pieces "made by the people for fun" (according to De André's statement about the inspiration from "Crêuza de mä"). Also in 2004, Officine Meccaniche became a record label.

In 2007, he was called in to replace Ambrogio Sparagna as the concert master of Notte della Taranta, the major Salentine folk music event held every August in Melpignano.

In 2009, he published an autobiographical novel for Rizzoli Editore, "Foto di gruppo con chitarrista".

In April 2009 he was the author and artistic producer of the single "Domani 21/04.2009" in collaboration with Giuliano Sangiorgi and Jovanotti: the recorded piece was attended by over 50 Italian artists. The song is a reminder of the victims of the Abruzzo earthquake, which occurred about a month earlier and was dedicated to the survivors and all reconstruction workers. The product of this project was intended for the reconstruction and restoration of the Alfredo Casella Conservatory and the headquarters of the Stabile d'Abruzzo Theater in L'Aquila.

On July 16, 2011, he plays with Ligabue again for the second concert in Campovolo. In the same year, Club Tenco de San Remo awarded him the Tenco Prize as a cultural operator. The delivery took place on Saturday, November 12, 2011, during the 36th Rassegna della Canzone d'autore. There is also a collaboration with singer Arisa for her album "Amami", released in 2012.

In 2013 and 2014, he was the music director of the Sanremo Festival, presented in these two years by Fabio Fazio and Luciana Littizzetto.

In 2015, he directed Nina Zilli at the 65th Sanremo Festival. In 2017, she directed singer Chiara Galiazzo at the 67th Sanremo Festival of 2017.

Michael Gately (Psychedelic/Folk/Pop/Rock {US})

imediatamente afundou no esquecimento.

o single "Shine your light on me/Darlin'" pela Columbia, em 1969.
Em 1972, pela Janus Records, o single "Colour all the world/Hook another horse",
seguido do single "You just run away/No dry change" (1974, One Way Records).

Paul Kossoff (Free), Caleb Quaye (Hookfoot), Herbie Flowers (Blue Mink, T. Rex, Sky, Elton John),
Ian Duck (Hookfoot, Mickey Jupp Band, The Loot, The Soul Agents),
Roger Pope (Hookfoot, The Kiki Dee Band, The Loot, The Soul Agents)

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Born October 28, 1942 in New Jersey, Michael Gately released
two great albums - both in 1972 - on Janus Records label, USA,
with his own copyrighted material.
After the release of both albums, the artist
immediately sank into oblivion.

Prior to releasing his first long play, the singer-songwriter had released
the single "Shine your light on me/Darlin'" by Columbia in 1969.
In 1972, by Janus Records, the single "Colour all the world/Hook another horse", followed by
the single"You just run away/No dry change"(1974, One Way Records).

The first album featured the production of his friend Al Kooper, as well

and Robert John (famous years later for hit number one, "Sad eyes").

The second album, although with good passages,
does not have the same level as the first.
But it still deserves your audition.

Michael Gately participated as a songwriter and vocalist on Al Kooper,
Blood, Sweat & Tears albums, collaborating mainly with Robert John.
Until his death on April 12, 1982, Michael Gately
worked as a night porter in a recording studio.

The Wildweeds - Wildweeds - 1970 (Folk/Country/Blues/Classic Rock {US})

Bandas com nomes como The Blues Messengers, The Altones, The Six Packs e The Futuras os moldaram.

Funcionou. DJs por todo o nordeste começaram a tocar "No good to cry".

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

In the late 1960s, a young band with a scorching style and regional number one song fell into obscurity. Meanwhile, the band's lead singer, then-teen Al Anderson, began a highly visible career that includes a decade-long spell with the hugely popular band NRBQ. Anderson has moved on to become one of Nashville's most sought after composers, and still remains strong after 40 years of musical adventures.

By the late 1950s and early 1960s, rock and roll had moved from the south and was no longer the domain of big cities, so this group of boys from Windsor, CT managed to follow their musical ideals with impunity.

The Hartford area had a strong music scene. Young players usually switched between various combos. Bands with names like The Blues Messengers, The Altones, The Six Packs and The Futuras have shaped them.

While the band was still in its early stages, Andy Lepak's father Alex Lepak Sr., a musician and professional teacher, began to manage them. He provided a stabilizing influence, paying them a salary and instilling in them strong ideals about their music.

According to the storyline of the fairy tale, the band's popularity has grown locally through enthusiastic fans at various live shows. Al Anderson continued to hone his composing skills (thirty-four years later, in 2000, Al Anderson was named IMC songwriter of the year). Weeds went to Syncron Sound Studios on their own and made a few tracks, including "No good to cry".

Music producer Thomas "Doc" Cavalier bought Syncron and, reviewing the archived assets of his new property, Doc was drawn to the brute, energetic talent he heard from Weeds's crude recordings. He searched for the boys. He soon went further, reorienting and renaming the single, "No good to cry", and used his experience and influence to get some industry warning. It worked. DJs across the northeast started playing "No good to cry". It was an unqualified regional success.

Doc got a deal with one of Chess Label's subsidiaries, Cadet. "No good to cry" went on to have a wider showing, but it never received the huge national attention it deserved.

In an attempt to keep up with the evolution of rock music in the late 1960s, they tried a different musical direction, culminating in the single "I'm dreaming", released on Cadet Concept, another branch of Chess. Again, a good local response encouraged the band, but it looks like the writing was on the wall. The band broke ranks with Doc Cavalier, changed personnel and changed their musical direction.

The name has been expanded to The Wildweeds. The musicians included Al Anderson on guitar and vocals, Andy Lepak (drums), Ray Zeiner (keyboards), Bob Dudek (bass) and Martin "Skip" Yakaitis (percussion) completing the group in their final lineup. This Wildweeds lineup released a self-titled LP in 1970 by the Vanguard label, which received little attention.

In 1969, Skip Yakaitis asked Al Anderson to accompany him to listen to NRBQ, a new band. Within two years, the story began again when Al Anderson signed with Q. Twenty-two years later, this chapter came to an end.

Skip Yakaitis died in 1988. The Lepak family still lives in the Hartford area and is still involved in music. Ray Zeiner now fixes pianos and still performs in Connecticut. Bob Dudek lived in Connecticut and spent his years taking care of wildlife there. He died in June 2002 after a long battle with cancer. Thomas "Doc" Cavalier directs Trod Nossel Productions in the same studio he bought in 1967.
