Alain Markusfeld 01

Story

Alain Markusfeld was born in 1950 in Paris. At 16, he started the group Les Don Dièse, where he created his first compositions. In 1968, he was hired by Coluche for La méthode ancienne as a singer. In 1969 he signed his first contract with Barclay. In 1970, Alain gave his concerts at Golf Drouot and Gibus and, in the same year, his first album was published, "Le monde en étage". "Le son tombé du ciel", his second album, was released in 1971 and recorded at Strawberry Studios, in Château d'Hérouville, by Dominique Blanc-Francard. The line-up was: Alain Markusfeld on guitar and vocals, Joël Dugrenot (Zao) on double bass, Geza Fenzl (Dynastie Crisis) on drums and percussion and Laurent Thibault on electric piano.

That year, an excerpt from the album "Le son tombé du ciel", the song "Êve", was chosen for the soundtrack for the film "La cravache" by Pïerre Kalfon. The title "Dors! Madère", from the album "Le monde en étage", appeared in the compilation published by EXTRA magazine, alongside Jimi Hendrix, John Mc Laughlin ...

In the same year, in the compilation "Puissance 13 + 2" (Thélème ref. 6641 037), he composed and performed "Iguanes", with Geza Fenzl on drums and Joel Dugreno on bass, and recorded at Château d'Hérouville. Alain participated in the Fête de l'Humanité in a trio with Jean Schultheis and Jean Claude Michaud.

In 1972, he composed and recorded the single "La croix de modez/l'Épave". Alain was accompanied by Jean-Claude Michaud, with Jean Schultheis and Dominique Blanc-Francard on the recordings.

Followed, in 1973, by the single entitled "Le gluemour", in which he played the guitar, and on the B side, the title "Le requin central", where he also played the piano. "Le gluemour" was chosen by Sam Bernett as the indicator of his Super Club program on RTL.

Several sales took place at Aquarium and Damien, whose titles were never distributed, followed by a concert period at the Bilboquet in Paris in 1976.

In the album "Le désert noir", released in 1977, by the label EGG Barclay, Alain plays guitar, bass and keyboard. Jean-François Leroi accompanies him on drums and percussion. The album also includes some of the sessions recorded at the Damien studio, including the title "Le désert noir", with Patricia Pernoo on vocals, Didier Alexandre on electric bass and Coco Ameziane on percussions (on the song "Bulgaro-feld").

Still in 1977, Alain joined the group of Joan-Pau Verdier, for whom he composed, among others, "Tabou-le-chat", "Easy cat rock et Achacadabra". He was the guitarist of the group for one year, participating in the Fête de l'Humanité for 120 thousand people, then performing at the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris, as well as in the first edition of Printemps de Bourges.

He held concerts in duo with Michel Ripoche, notably for the 1978 edition of Printemps de Bourges. He released the album "Platock", with the participation of Jean Schultheis in the percussion of "Platock 3" and Patricia Markusfeld in the voice, in addition to Claude Achalle in the sound recording. He did concerts at Lucernaire and at the Palais des Arts in Paris.
On July 3, 1978, he performed at Olympia, as a solo guitarist.

In 1979, Alain composed the album "Contemporus", in which he also plays piano, guitar, organ, percussion, leaving only the voice of Patricia Pernoo. The pressing of the records was done by JEM Records.

He continues with the "Au travers" tour in Belgium in 1980, in Brussels and Liège. And performed at the Nancy Jazz Festival.

In 1981, he edited and published the album "Alain Markusfeld live", recorded in public, in Courbevoie, in a single concert, in which he played piano and guitar solo. In 1982, he toured Brittany. He composed and performed, in 1984, the single "Les rêves de Calypso" (with "Town's gold" on the B side).

In 1992 he made the reissue on CD of the 1971 album "Puissance 13 + 2" with the track "Iguanes". Since 1985, Alain Markusfeld has composed and interpreted contemporary music and jazz. "Le fleuve" was composed in 1989/1990 (unpublished).

There was a real demand, coming from both France and abroad, to reissue titles from the 1970s, the choice was arbitrary, the idea was to choose pieces that could be integrated into a musical process that constantly evolves over time in a coherent way. a patchwork album.

In 2012, Alain decided to publish the CD "Roll over the eiger trail", a compilation of titles from the 70/80/90 years ("Le désert noir", "Bulgaro-feld", "Hot love", "Fayava", "Platock 2 et 3", "Atlantis rock") and new tracks from "Le fleuve". His style is very particular, whatever the instrument used or the form of composition, he was in constant search, but the musical essence remained the same in the pieces, close to jazz and sometimes classical music.

In 2015, he published the CD "Le cri du photon solitaire", with 12 new tracks. 2017 saw the release of the CD "Chaos or not?", With 19 new tracks including "Chaos dancing", nominated as the best track in the "jazz" category by the TuneCore platform. In 2019, he released his 16th album, "Birds on call", with 11 previously unreleased tracks. Very prolific, 7 months later, in 2020, he released the CD "Astéroïd vagabond", a double album with 16 new tracks.
