Cravinkel (Hard Blues/Heavy Psych/Progressive Rock {Alemanha})

Cravinkel
Cravinkel foi uma banda alemã de
hard/heavy psych prog blues rock
da década de 1970 em torno do
guitarrista Gert "Kraller" Krawinkel.

O álbum foi gravado no I.B.C.

No geral, "Garden of loneliness" segundo álbum continha apenas três faixas muito longas.

Cravinkel was a German
hard/heavy psych prog blues rock band
from the 1970s around guitarist
Gert "Kraller" Krawinkel.

Story

Cravinkel was founded in 1969 in Wilhelmshaven and played folk rock. To be closer to the record companies, Cravinkel moved to Hamburg in 1970, where most of Germany's major record labels were based in the 1970s. The change was worth it, because the band received an unusually well-recorded recording contract with Philips, a sub-label of Phonogram. To create the most creative environment possible, Cravinkel moved to Volkmarst (near Bremervörde).

Cravinkel recorded his first self-titled LP in London in 1970, and then went on a European tour with Frumpy and Spooky Tooth. The album was recorded at I.B.C. Studios in London and produced by Rainer Goltermann (Frumpy, Eiliff, Weed, Randy Pie) with engineering by Andy Knight (Juicy Lucy, Soft Machine) and John Pantry (Bee Gees, Tin Tin). The original copies came in a four-fold poster cover. CD reissues add both sides to the 1971 single "Keep on running"/"Mr. Cooley".

In September 1970, they opened the Love and Peace Festival in Fehmarn, the self-proclaimed European response to the Woodstock Festival. However, the appearance of Cravinkel was canceled prematurely due to technical problems.

After a line-up change, the band released another album in 1971, which now sounded significantly more progressive than its debut. Overall, "Garden of loneliness" second album contained only three very long tracks. The recordings took place at Hamburg's Windrose-Dumont-Time Studios, with Goltermann and engineers Henning Ruete (Joachim Kühn, Lucifer's Friend, Zarathustra, Franz K., Ikarus, Eloy) and Friedrich Bischoff. The original presses have a bottom folded cover.

In early 1972, the house in Volkmarst, where Cravinkel members lived as a shared apartment, completely burned down and destroyed all of their belongings. The fire resulted in the separation of the band.

Drummer Boris Haupt (also known as George B. Miller) later appeared on Lude LaFayette’s Wolfsmond. Bassist Rolf Kaiser resurfaced on Dig It Al (L), which released the electronic album "Volt age" in 1981. Miller, Kaiser and guitarist George Meier recorded two albums as a trio in the late 1980s.

Gert Krawinkel recorded with the country band Emsland Hillbillies and NDW Trio, which achieved global success in 1982 with "Da da da". In 1985, he participated in the album “Nackt im wind”, inspired by Band Aid, as part of the German industry collective Band Für Afrika.
