⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Pearl from Iceland, the group Mánar appeared in 1967 in the small town of Selfoss, with a sound focused on the pop/beat of the time. Between 1970 and 1971 the quintet showed a more mature and even pioneering sound in the country, releasing a compact and a single LP. The band disbanded in 1975 and some meetings have taken place in the region recently.
The 1971 eponymous album features 11 short progressive rock tracks with folk influences, mainly in the initial, acoustic and ballad tracks, featuring beautiful passages of piano, guitar, violin and flute. Hard rock, with psychedelic touches, is also present in most of the b-side, with great guitar riffs and solos, Hammond organ and again flute moments. The lyrics are all in Icelandic and in general, the sound of the guys is reminiscent of other local bands of the time. For the tracks, featured in "Söngur satans", "Haustregn" and "Þriðja Heimstyrjöldin".
Pearl recommended for fans of hard prog and folk prog.
