Fromage (Symphonic Progressive Rock {Japão})

Fundada em Kyoto, Japão no ano de 1977 e separada em 1989, a história da Fromage começa quando dois músicos japoneses, que futuramente se tornariam famosos, juntam-se para formar uma banda, mas partem muito antes que a mesma pudesse lançar seu primeiro álbum, em 1984. Estamos falando de Toshio Egawa (Novela, Gerard, Scheherezade) e Ikkou Nakajima (Pageant, Ie Rai Shan).

Liderada pelo flautista Manabu Higashizawa, a formação incluía Tomohisa Hayashi (baixo), o sólido guitarrista Yoshihito Kondo, Yoshi  Shimamura nos teclados e o baterista Hirozaku Taniguchi, Fromage lançou "Ondine", um excelente álbum sinfônico no limiar do movimento neo progressivo na Inglaterra.

Para o seu segundo álbum "Ophelia" lançado em 1988, a banda teve várias mudanças: Yoshihiro Kitamura (teclados) Tohru Ohta (guitarras) e Yuji Tanaka (baixo) se juntam à banda, fazendo uma grande mudança. "Ophelia" tem melodias mais fortes e a orientação do teclado é 100% sinfônica, um álbum muito sólido. Seu último lançamento é "Tsukini-hoeru", que tem material de ambas as épocas, isso explicaria porque é creditado como lançado em 1990, mas em alguns sites aparecem como registrados em 1985.

Fromage ainda sobreviveu até 1993, aparentemente devido a diferenças artísticas eles se dividiram, tendo seu espírito mantido vivo por Tohru Ohta, Hirozaku Taniguchi e Yoshihiro Kitamura, que seguiram em frente e formaram a banda Cinema.

Fromage está entre as melhores bandas sinfônicas japonesas e um bom ponto para começar uma coleção seria "Ophelia" quando atingiram o pico da criatividade e desenvolveram uma personalidade absolutamente sinfônica.

Fromage is among the best Japanese symphonic bands and a good starting point for a collection would be "Ophelia" when they reached the peak of their creativity and developed an absolutely symphonic personality.
