O vocalista Hawks e o guitarrista Newman eram membros da banda Don and The Goodtimes e, na famosa banda de psych-prog Touch, tocaram junto com o baixista Hauser. The vocalist Hawks and the guitarist Newman were members of the band Don and The Goodtimes and, in the famous psych-prog Touch band, played along with bassist Hauser. After the band broke up, these three and drummer Lenny Fagan formed hard blues rock band Stepson in 1974, which released the same year an album that was like a cross between MC5, Bloodrock, Free, Mountain and Blue Cheer - featuring overdrive fuzz-guitar and dirty & spontaneous vocals. It's the guitar that makes this album so special, with a raw and totally explosive sound coming straight from the amp. Unfortunately, after its release in the summer of 1974, the album went completely unnoticed and as a result the band broke up in early 1975.

Jimmy Greenspoon of Three Dog Night and Jeff Simmons of The Mothers of Invention also play on this album. And there is also a "special thanks" to Arthur Lee, of Love, and Chris Hillman, of The Byrds.
