Predmestje ("Subúrbio") foi uma banda de jazz fusion

eslovena que esteve ativa entre os anos 1975 à 1984.

A banda foi um fator importante no jazz fusion da

Iugoslávia na época e, portanto, influenciou a cena musical

iugoslava com seu estilo. Em sua época na Eslovênia, a banda era

considerada uma das mais virtuosas, de melhor qualidade e mais séria.

Os álbuns apresentaram músicas mais sofisticadas e predominantemente

instrumentais, mas eles também gravaram músicas

mais simples para a produção de rádio.

HISTÓRIA

1975-1978: COMEÇOS/ÁLBUMS "BREZ NAZLOVA" e "DANES, VČERAJ IN..."

O início da banda remonta a 1975, quando a baterista Janez Hvale ligou para o tecladista Andrej Pompet por telefone, com quem às vezes tocava junto. Janez Hvale convidou Pompeta para tocar em uma nova banda, junto com o guitarrista Peter Gruden e o baixista Gabrijel Lah. A princípio, o grupo ensaiou em quartos, mas depois mudou-se para o porão da casa na Station Street, que ficava em frente a Kino Dvor. Com quatro demos, eles logo chegaram à Rádio Ljubljana, onde Mojmir Sepe lhes permitiu gravar. A banda juntou-se ao saxofonista Alexander Malahovsky em setembro de 1976, e juntos eles gravaram seu primeiro álbum em apenas 22 horas. O álbum foi produzido por Deco Žgur e lançado por PGP RTB, de Belgrado.

Em 1977, a banda participou do Festival da Juventude em Subotica e, no mesmo ano em Celje, participou do festival Slovenska Popevka, onde ela tocou a música "Mala nočna kronika" e ganhou o prêmio de Melhor Música. 1979-1984: A CHEGADA DE POMPE VINDO DO EXÉRCITO/ÁLBUMS "HAZARD" e "KAMASUTRA"

Depois de retornar do exército, Pompe compôs a terceira line-up da banda, formada por membros da antiga banda Izvir: o guitarrista Slavko Lebar, o baixista Marjan Lebar, o baterista Andrej Petković e o cantor e percussionista Marko Bitenc. A banda começou a produzir material para gravar um novo álbum, e em 1980 eles começaram a trabalhar com a cantora Marjetka Neca Falk. Junto com ela, eles se apresentaram no Slovenska Popevka, no mesmo ano, e apresentaram a música "Storila bom to", para o qual Pompe contribuiu com música e adaptação, com letras escritas por Daniel Levski. A música ganhou o 1º prêmio. Pompe havia colaborado com Marjetka Neca Falk no Slovenska Popevka um ano antes, quando ela cantou a música "Ljubimec moj", que ganhou o 3º prêmio e o prêmio do Júri Internacional, e uma placa de bronze da Stop Magazine.

No mesmo ano, a banda lançou seu terceiro álbum, "Hazard". O álbum foi gravado no mesmo ano no Studio Akademik, e os produtores do álbum foram Karel "Čarli" Novak e Braco Doblekar. Pompe usado pela primeira vez na gravação o sintetizador ARP Odyssey e, como convidado, apresentou o saxofonista Jernej Podboj, um ex-membro da Mladi Levi (Young Lions). Predmestje ("Suburb") was a Slovenian jazz fusion band

which was active from 1975 to 1984. The band was a major factor in

Yugoslavian jazz fusion at the time and therefore influenced the

Yugoslavian music scene with its style.

In their time in Slovenia, the band was considered one of

the most virtuous, of the best quality and most serious.

The albums featured more sophisticated and predominantly instrumental

songs, but they also recorded simpler songs for radio production.

STORY

1975-1978: BEGINNINGS/ALBUMS "BREZ NAZLOVA" and "DANES, VČERAJ IN ..."

The beginning of the band dates back to 1975, when drummer Janez Hvale called keyboardist Andrej Pompet by phone, with whom he sometimes played along. Janez Hvale invited Pompeta to play in a new band, along with guitarist Peter Gruden and bassist Gabrijel Lah. At first, the group rehearsed in rooms, but then moved to the basement of the house on Station Street, which was opposite Kino Dvor. With four demos, they soon arrived at Radio Ljubljana, where Mojmir Sepe allowed them to record. The producer was Andrej Arnol, and the band recorded the songs "Balada", "Ona", "Nihče ne ve" and "Ritem življenja", which became the band's first hits. Before recording their first album, the band recorded a few more tracks, the most successful being "Divja reka" and "Čarovnik".

The band began to focus on instrumental songs and, due to their growing popularity, were invited to a Ljubljana TV broadcast. The show was noticed by Studio Akademik sound artist and owner Miro Bevc, who invited them to record in his studio, which took place in September 1976.

1979-1984: THE ARRIVAL OF POMPE FROM THE ARMY/ALBUMS "HAZARD" and "KAMASUTRA"

After returning from the army, Pompe composed the band's third line-up, made up of members of the old band Izvir: guitarist Slavko Lebar, bassist Marjan Lebar, drummer Andrej Petković and singer and percussionist Marko Bitenc. The band began producing material to record a new album, and in 1980 they began working with singer Marjetka Neca Falk. Together with her, they performed at Slovenska Popevka that same year, and performed the song "Storila bom to", to which Pompe contributed music and adaptation, with lyrics written by Daniel Levski. The song won the 1st prize. Pompe had collaborated with Marjetka Neca Falk on Slovenska Popevka a year earlier when she sang the song "Ljubimec moj", which won the 3rd Prize and the International Jury Prize, and a bronze plaque from Stop Magazine.

In the same year, the band released their third album, "Hazard". The album was recorded the same year at the Studio Akademik, and the album's producers were Karel "Čarli" Novak and Braco Doblekar. Pompe first used the ARP Odyssey synthesizer and, as a guest, performed saxophonist Jernej Podboj, a former member of Mladi Levi (Young Lions). In 1981, the band collaborated with Neca Falk again and recorded their single "Neću/Formula jedan" as a backing band. In the same year, they again participated in Slovenska Popevka, where they accompanied Marko Bitenc and played the song "Kdo si ti" with him, and also participated in the Opatijski Festival.

The following year, the band went to the studio for the fourth time. The recording resulted in the fourth album, "Kamasutra", with influences from ska and pop music, and with more vocal tracks than its predecessors. The album's producer was Braco Doblekar, and the recording was invited by artist Boris Šinigoj, a former member of Mladi Levi. Due to controversial art, the album cover has been replaced several times and the album was released late. During this time, drummer Petković was drafted into the army and was replaced by Jani Tutta. The group was active until 1984, when it ceased operations.

On February 2, 2010, Dragan Bulič hosted a show called "Še pomnite prijatelji" ("Remember your friends"), which also featured the band Predmestje. They played the songs "Ritem življenja" and "Oaza".
