HISTÓRIA

Durante o fim de semana de 30 a 31 de agosto de 1969, vários músicos de várias bandas ativas na região de Eindhoven, Holanda, se apresentaram em um clube em Mannheim, Alemanha. Alguns dos membros da banda Moses and The Scouts e Dirty Underwear descobriram que tinham muito em comum em termos de idéias musicais e decidiram formar uma nova banda - com Broer Bogaart bateria e congas, Tom Fautubun baixo, Eric Lintermans guitarra, Bonki Bongaerts órgão, saxofone e vocais de Bertus Borgers, e Inez e Moses atuando como vocalistas-solo extras. Para provocar o tímido roadie, Albert, foi decidido chamar a banda de The Mr. Albert Show e, apesar dos protestos de Albert, o nome nunca foi mudado. Depois de gravar o novo repertório escrito em uma fita cassete, Bertus e Moses pegaram carona na gravadora Red Bullet. Willem van Kooten, o chefão, imediatamente decidiu oferecer à banda um contrato de gravação de quatro anos, que os membros da banda assinaram sem qualquer hesitação.

Na primavera de 1970, gravamos o primeiro LP "Mr. Albert Show" nos estúdios GTB em Haia, Holanda, um dos dois únicos estúdios de oito faixas existentes na Holanda naquela época. Em apenas três dias, todas as gravações e mixagens foram feitas sob a supervisão de nosso produtor, Peter Koelewijn. Durante a gravação, Moses decidiu deixar a banda e se lançar no campo da gestão. A Red Bullet lançou o single "Wild sensation" e, para nossa surpresa, o single subiu para o décimo sétimo lugar nas paradas. Este rápido sucesso levou a vários shows ao vivo sendo agendados. Inez, que havia cantado alguns vocais importantes no primeiro LP, ficou um tanto impressionada com tudo isso e decidiu deixar a banda para se concentrar na guitarra jazz. Inez foi inicialmente substituída por Floortje Klomp, mas depois de alguns meses decidimos ir como uma banda de cinco integrantes. Éramos muito unidos -  inspirávamos uns aos outros e colocamos energia em nossas apresentações ao vivo. Temos muitos fãs em toda a Holanda que amam nossa música progressiva e aparência extravagante.

Em 1971, o segundo LP, "Warm motor", também produzido por Peter Koelewijn, foi lançado e refletia perfeitamente a banda da época. No entanto, Red Bullet não conseguiu retirar um single do LP, porque as canções eram muito longas, a banda não tinha mais uma vocalista feminina e a música era muito estranha. A banda estava se concentrando nas novas tendências da época e explorando músicas de todo o mundo, ou seja, jazz, underground, africano, indiano e muito mais. Queríamos estar ativamente envolvidos nos desenvolvimentos culturais e sociais que estavam realmente ocorrendo e criar singles apropriados não era exatamente parte de nossos interesses diários. Como resultado, surgiram os primeiros sinais de atrito entre a banda e a gravadora. Como um compromisso, gravações adicionais foram feitas a fim de ser capaz de lançar um single, - por exemplo, "Show me your tongue" -, mas em 1972, rompemos todos os laços com a Red Bullet. Nós continuamos a tocar, mas ainda tínhamos dois anos restantes em nosso contrato, impedindo os membros da banda de assinar com outra gravadora. Decidimos seguir nosso próprio caminho e em 29 de setembro de 1973, a The Mr. Albert Show deu sua última apresentação no "de Effenaar" em Eindhoven, Holanda.

HISTORY

During the weekend of August 30th to 31st, 1969, a number of musicians from various bands active in the region of Eindhoven, The Netherlands, performed in a club in Mannheim, Germany. Some of the band members from Moses and The Scouts and Dirty Underwear discovered that they had much in common in terms of musical ideas and decided to form a new band - with Broer Bogaart drums and congas, Tom Fautubun bass, Eric Lintermans guitar, Bonki Bongaerts organ, Bertus Borgers saxophone and vocals, and Inez and Moses performing as extra solo vocalists. After some rehearsals, and on the way to the first gig, there wasn't a name yet for the new band. To tease the shy roadie, Albert, it was decided to call the band The Mr. Albert Show and despite Albert's protests, the name was never changed. After recording the new written repertoire on a cassette, Bertus and Moses hitched a ride to the Red Bullet record company. Willem van Kooten, the big boss, immediately decided to offer the band a four-year record contract, which the band members signed without any hesitation.

In the spring of 1970, we recorded the first "Mr. Albert Show" LP in the GTB studios in The Hague, The Netherlands, one of only two eight-track studios existing in The Netherlands at that time. In just three days, all recording and mixing were done under the supervision of our producer, Peter Koelewijn. During recording, Moses decided to leave the band and to launch himself into the field of management. Red Bullet released the single, "Wild sensation" and to our surprise, the single climbed to number seventeen on the charts. This rapid success led to numerous live gigs being booked. Inez, who had sang some important vocals on the first LP, was somewhat overwhelmed by it all and decided to leave the band to focus on jazz guitar. Inez was initially replaced by Floortje Klomp, but after a few months we decided to go as a five piece band. We were close-knit - we inspired one another and we poured energy into our live performances. We got a lot of fans throughout The Netherlands who loved our progressive music and extravagant appearance.

In 1971, the second LP, "Warm motor", which was also produced by Peter Koelewijn, was released and perfectly reflected the band at that time. However, Red Bullet was unable to lift a single from the LP, as the songs were too long, the band no longer had a female vocalist and the music was too freaky. The band was focussing on the new trends of the time and exploring music from around the whole world, i.e. jazz, underground, African, Indian and much more. We wanted to be actively involved in the cultural and social developments that were actually taking place and coming up with appropriate singles wasn't exactly part of our daily interests. As a result, the first signs of friction arose between the band and the record company. As a compromise, additional recordings were made in order to be able to release a single, - e.g. "Show me your tongue" -, but in 1972, we broke all ties with Red Bullet. We continued to play, but still had two years remaining on our contract, rendering the band members unable to sign up with another record company. We decided to go our own sepa- rate way and on September 29th, 1973, The Mr. Albert Show gave their last performance at "de Effenaar" in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
