HISTÓRIA

A banda de rock progressivo mineira Arion iniciou suas atividades na cidade universitária de Viçosa (Minas Gerais. Surgiu do embrião da banda Magma, fundada em 1993, cujos integrantes Thyaga (voz), Luciano Soares (guitarras), Sergio Paolucci (teclados), Carlos Linhares (baixo) e Nelson Rosa (bateria) faziam músicas próprias com influências da música regional, da MPB e do rock progressivo. Com a entrada, em 1997, da cantora Tânia Braz, Thyaga seguiu seus projetos de teatro e música regional, e o grupo redirecionou seu foco para o que era a idéia inicial da banda, ou seja, o rock progressivo. Assim a banda foi rebatizada com o novo nome Arion.

Em outubro de 2001 a banda lançou seu primeiro CD homônimo intitulado "Arion". Esse CD - que foi originalmente lançado pela Progressive Rock Worldwide e depois relançado pela Rock Symphony no Brasil e pela gravadora francesa Musea na Europa -, foi muito bem recebido pela critica nacional e internacional e rendeu ao grupo o prêmio de "Melhor álbum de rock progressivo brasileiro de 2001" pelo portal Rock Progressivo Brasil.

Hoje a banda aguarda a volta do tecladista ítalo-brasileiro Sérgio Paolucci, que mora na Itália, onde trabalha e estuda música, para dar continuidade ao trabalho de gravação do segundo álbum, bem como a realizações de novas apresentações ao vivo.

SHOWS

O grupo realizou shows importantes apresentando-se em concertos e festivais internacionais como o festival Minas Prog, onde dividiu o palco com as bandas Quidam (Polônia), Tryo (Chile) e Xang (França). Em 2002 abriu o primeiro show na América do Sul para a lendária banda neerlandesa Focus, transmitido para todo o Brasil pela Rede Minas de Televisão. Foi também convidado para abrir o show do grupo setentista inglês Caravan na 9ª edição do Rio ArtRock Festival - RARF, que é referência no circuito progressivo internacional realizado todos os anos no Rio de Janeiro.

HISTORY

The progressive rock band Arion from Minas Gerais started its activities in the university city of Viçosa (Minas Gerais). It emerged from the embryo of the band Magma, founded in 1993, whose members Thyaga (vocals), Luciano Soares (guitars), Sergio Paolucci (keyboards), Carlos Linhares (bass) and Nelson Rosa (drums) made their own songs with influences from regional music, MPB and progressive rock. With the entry, in 1997, of singer Tânia Braz, Thyaga continued her theater and regional music projects, and the The group redirected its focus to what was the band's initial idea, namely progressive rock, so the band was renamed with the new name Arion.

In October 2001 the band released their first self-titled CD entitled "Arion". This CD - which was originally released by Progressive Rock Worldwide and later re-released by Rock Symphony in Brazil and by French label Musea in Europe - was very well received by national and international critics and earned the group the award for "Best Brazilian progressive rock album of 2001" by the Rock Progressivo Brasil portal.

Today the band awaits the return of Italian-Brazilian keyboardist Sérgio Paolucci, who lives in Italy, where he works and studies music, to continue recording the second album, as well as performing new live performances.

SHOWS

The group performed important shows in international concerts and festivals such as the Minas Prog festival, where they shared the stage with the bands Quidam (Poland), Tryo (Chile) and Xang (France). In 2002, he opened the first show in South America for the legendary Dutch band Focus, broadcast throughout Brazil by Rede Minas de Televisão. He was also invited to open the show of the English seventies group Caravan at the 9th edition of the Rio ArtRock Festival - RARF, which is a reference in the international progressive circuit held every year in Rio de Janeiro.
