The Loot - Singles A's and B's [1966-1969] - 2005 (Psychedelic Garage Rock {UK})

Vinda de Andover, em Hampshire, The Loot foi fortemente influenciada em termos musicais e comerciais pelos primeiros membros do guitarrista Dave Wright da The Troggs: outra banda local que na época estava desfrutando do sucesso nas paradas com seu single "rock do homem das cavernas", "Wild thing".

Hailing from Andover in Hampshire, The Loot was strongly influenced in both musical and commercial terms by guitarist Dave Wright's early membership of The Troggs: another local band that at the ime were enjoying chart success with their "caveman rock" single "Wild thing".

Wright not only contributed his musical and song writing talents, but also brought The Loot to the attention of The Trogg's manager Larry Page who signed them to his Page One label in 1966. Taking The Troggs connection even further, drummer Ronnie Bonds produced The Loot's first single for Page One, "She's a winner".

Although the band failed to achieve the commercial impact that their collective talent suggested they might, The Loot recorded a number of strong tracks that, probably due to the considerable competition at the time, failed to achieve more than moderate success.

It is also rumoured that The Loot's musical ranks were occasionally augmented by guitarist Caleb Quaye but regardless of whether this is so or not, Quaye, later to play on Elton John's "Tumbleweed connection" and "Mad man across the water", gets the credit for writing the song "Try to keep it a secret", one of the band's finer efforts.

The Loot's songs have been included on many compilations, but this is the first time that the band’s entire output has been gathered together in one place.
