Drama foi fundada por quatro músicos, que deixaram sua marca no Nederpop nos anos anteriores. In the same year, the debut album was recorded at the GTB studios in The Hague. The album is produced by Hans van Oosterhout, also producer of Supersister. Despite some good reviews, the LP barely sells, which forces Philips to make an emergency move: Peter Koelewijn is invited to write the redemptive hit. Against the will, Drama puts "Mary's mamma" in a single - the happy music is far from the usual repertoire. To the band's horror, the single becomes the number one hit, the only one in Drama's short career. Philips immediately launches a new pressing of the debut, this time with "Mary's mamma". Uly Grün leaves the band. Drama continues as a trio.

The label's involvement ensures that little of the fun remains. In addition, the intervention leads to confusion: Drama refuses to perform the hit live, while the salon owners expect it. The small fan base doesn't understand anything anymore and is slowly but surely moving away from Drama. After the release of the last single, appropriately titled "Stop that now", the group breaks up. The single "Mommie's got a striptease bar" was never released. Polle Eduard continues with a solo career and succeeds with the song "Ik wil jou". Frank van der Kloot and Shell Schellekens founded Fontessa. Schellekens later emerged as a successful producer of the band Golden Earring, in addition to working with the bands Rainbow Train and The Rest.

In 2013, a second album was released by the Pseudonym label, titled "Melodrama", with some songs from the first album and others unpublished.
