Ironbridge - Ironbridge - 1973 (Progressive/Soft Pop Rock {UK})

A banda foi formada em Telford (Shropshire, Inglaterra - tendo como fronteira o País de Gales). Inicialmente sob o nome de Fluff, a banda lançou 5 singles/EPs: "Holly golightly/Things I'm doing" (1969), "Sunny honey girl/Walking alone" (1970), "Make believe/Love machine" (1970), "Dance, dance, dance/Don't say you don't" (1972) e "Let's get back together/The sun ain't gonna shine (Anymore)" (1972) - os três primeiros pelo selo DJM Records, e os dois últimos pelo selo Decca.

Após mudar seu nome para Ironbridge (em homenagem à primeira ponte de ferro do mundo, que foi construída na cidade de Shropshire) e assinar com a EMI International, a banda lançou seu único LP que, na época, vendeu extremamente bem na França, ao mesmo tempo em que recebeu críticas elogiosas. O álbum alcançou um status cult, sendo enquadrado hoje na categoria “power pop”, mas na época foi descrito pelos críticos como “algo entre The Beatles e The Moody Blues”. A formação era: Alan Millington (voz, bateria),  Mick Skinner (guitarra),  Gerry Ward (baixo) e Alan Phillips (guitarra).

Além de sua cidade natal e - provavelmente - da França, a banda também se apresentou em Montgomeryshire (País de Gales) no início dos anos 1970, lotando as casas de show por onde passavam.

A reedição da Flawed Gems não é oficial e traz algumas informações divergentes das que aparecem em outras reedições lançadas em outros selos. Como o nome do músico Gerry Ward (nesta versão aparece como B. Shattock) e o título das músicas "Just a day" e "Hallelujah days" (nesta versão aparece como "Just a bridge" e "Hallelujah Dave". Além de não informar os instrumentos tocados pelos músicos. Nos arquivos e na lista de faixas abaixo, decidi colocar como aparece nas outras versões do álbum. The band was formed in Telford (Shropshire, England - bordering Wales). Initially under the name Fluff, the band released 5 singles and EPs: "Holly golightly/Things I'm doing" (1969), "Sunny honey girl/Walking alone" (1970), "Make believe/Love machine" (1970), "Dance, dance, dance/Don't say you don't" (1972) and "Let's get back together/The sun ain't gonna shine (Anymore)" (1972) - the first three by DJM Records, and the last two by the Decca label.

After changing their name to Ironbridge (in honor of the world's first iron bridge, which was built in the city of Shropshire) and signing with EMI International, the band released their only LP which, at the time, sold extremely well in France, to at the same time it received rave reviews. The album achieved cult status, now falling into the “power pop” category, but at the time it was described by critics as “something between The Beatles and The Moody Blues”. The line-up was: Alan Millington (vocals, drums), Mick Skinner (guitar), Gerry Ward (bass) and Alan Phillips (guitar).

In addition to their hometown and - probably - France, the band also performed in Montgomeryshire (Wales) in the early 1970s, filling the clubs wherever they went.

The reissue of Flawed Gems is not official and brings some information that differs from those that appear in other reissues released on other labels. Like the name of musician Gerry Ward (in this version it appears as B. Shattock) and the titles of the songs "Just a day" and "Hallelujah days" (in this version it appears as "Just a bridge" and "Hallelujah Dave". In addition to not informing the instruments played by the musicians. In the archives and tracklist below, I decided to put it as it appears on the other versions of the album. Enjoy!
