Jake Jones - Different roads - 1971 (Psychedelic/Progressive Rock {US})

Jake Jones foi uma banda formada em St. Louis, Missouri, que lançou dois álbuns pela Kapp Records no início dos anos setenta. Ninguém no grupo se chamava "Jake Jones". O primeiro álbum, "Jake Jones", trazia uma mistura de rock, folk, psicodelia e rock progressivo. Em 1972, a banda se apresentou no programa "The Session", na data 3/5/1972, às 19h. Jake Jones executa as músicas "The boat song", "The kiss of Death", "Why do I cry", "Speak to me lady" e outras.

O programa foi apresentado por David Langdon, produzido/dirigido por Bruce Scafe para WSIU, Carbondale, Illinois e transmitido pela PBS (Serviço Público de Radiodifusão), no Canal 8. A banda se separou em 1973.

Segundo Phil Jost, há um material que foi gravado em 1973 antes da banda se separar, que ainda não foi lançado. A reedição de "Different roads" aqui apresentada não é oficial.

UM POUCO SOBRE OS MEMBROS DA JAKE JONES

• Joe Marshall, depois, foi membro da banda The Truth (anteriormente nomeada como The Acid Sette), formada pelos irmãos Bill Marshall e Joey Marshall na região de St. Louis, Missouri. O grupo era formado por Pat Graney (sax, flauta), Denny Townsand (bateria), Bill Marshall (baixo), Joey Marshall (guitarra) e Eddie Jenny (guitarra base). Todos os membros cantavam. • John Michael Krenski já havia tocado nas bandas Bob Kuban and The In-Men, que lançou um álbum - "Look out for the cheater" (1966) -, e The Guise, que lançou alguns singles e Ep's entre 1966 a 1969. Agora pilota aviões e ensina aspirantes a pilotos - trabalhou para McDonnell Douglas/Boeing.

• Chuck Sabatino depois foi para a banda A Full Moon Consort, uma banda da área de St. Louis na década de 1970. Quando seu álbum foi lançado ("The men in the moon", 1978), foi relatado (na rádio KSHE) como o álbum mais vendido na área de St. Louis. A banda se apresentou de meados da década de 1970 até aproximadamente o início da década de 1980, e era formada por: Chuck Sabatino (vocais, flauta, teclados), Joe Marshall (guitarra), Steve Strayhorn (bateria), Joe Truttman (baixo) e Dave Timmermann (teclados, sax e flauta). A LITTLE ABOUT JAKE JONES MEMBERS

• Phil Jost moved to Los Angeles in 1978 and became an assistant to producer/engineer Ken Scott (Supertramp, David Bowie, Elton John). He has worked both as a musician, engineer and producer on albums with Dixie Dreggs & Steve Morris, Stanley Clarke, Jeff Beck, Kansas, Supertramp and many others, including Missing Persons. He was a member of Missing Persons for a short time. Then he started writing with David Palmer, who was in Steely Dan as a singer. And together they recorded an album for Warner Bros. with The Eagles producer Bill Sczymick. In 1998, he released "Live at the Charlotte Convention Center", which was recorded in April 1997 while opening for the Atlanta Rhythm Section.
