Wolf-Rudiger Uhlig participou do terceiro álbum da Frumpy, "By the way", em 1972.

Murphy Blend (name of a pipe tobacco) was responsible for one of the best albums released on Polydor's legendary Kuckuck label. The band was a quartet composed of Wolf-Rodiger Uhlig (organ, cymbal, grand piano, vocal), Wolfgang Rumler (guitar, vocals), Andreas Scholz (bass) and Achim Schmidt (drums). The album "First loss" was recorded at Union Studio in Munich during October and December 1970, produced by Jonas Porst, the manager of Ihre Kinder, and designed by Thomas Klemt.
Murphy Blend revealed a good mix in which Uhlig used his keyboards. to incorporate classic themes into your heavy progressive music. He studied classical music for three years in Berlin. The songs were melodic, textured by heavy guitars and organ riffs. The album contained six own tracks, mostly written by Uhlig, and the shortest German song ever: "Happiness" in just 6 seconds! It is impossible to name highlights because all the material is really great!
Unfortunately, Murphy Blend fell apart shortly after recording this album. Andreas Scholz joined hard progressive rock band Blackwater Park in 1971. Wolf-Rudiger Uhlig participated in Frumpy's third album, "By the way", in 1972.
A curious and almost unknown fact is that the group performed in Erwin C. Dietrich and Ingrid Steeger's 1970 German porn movie "Ich - ein Groupie" even before the release of their first and only album. Another band that appears in the same movie is also the excellent Birth Control. For krautrock fans, and particularly Murphy Blend, this movie will be a great find because there are no videos from the band.
