Lead singer Uzi Fuchs and his band

The Styles were one of many Israeli rock bands

operating on the local stage in the late 1960's

and early 1970's. The group was founded in

1968 by Itzhak Klepter (formerly The Churchills),

Avi Karpel (formerly The Spiders) and Meir Israel

(formerly The Monks, then Tamouz). Its first

performance took place in 1968 on "The

battle of groups", along with The Blue Stars,

The Fat & The Thin, The Mosquitoes, The

New Stars and Tel Aviv Express. The Styles

was the only band in this event that sang

in Hebrew. As a result, they took 3rd place,

and the first prize went to The New Stars

and its lead singer Uzi Fuchs, who joined

The Styles in 1969.

In the same year, the British

band Revolver came to Israel on tour,

after which his keyboardist Abe Orchover

and composer Tony Price decided to stay

and join Uzi and The Styles. Two Englishmen

had the main influence on the group material,

and soon they recorded the single "Day

time, night time", which became a big hit.

Then came the equally successful

EP "Morning train".

In 1970, they recorded their

first album, "Friends". The album was

recorded and sung entirely in English and

is still considered one of the best albums

in Israeli music history, but the group broke

up shortly after the album's release.

In 1990 they made a concert in Israel.
