Ibis foi uma banda

até 1975. A banda nasceu

a partir da cisão da

New Trolls.

HISTÓRIA

Após o fracasso de "Searching for a land", devido às escolhas artísticas e linguísticas (uso do inglês) de Vittorio De Scalzi, houve a remoção deste último da New Trolls. No álbum a seguir, "UT", De Scalzi aparece em apenas uma das oito faixas.

A formação foi, portanto, composta essencialmente por Nico Di Palo por voz e guitarra, Maurizio Salvi nos teclados, Gianni Belleno na bateria e Frank Laugelli no baixo. De Scalzi, no entanto, considerou-se o titular do nome "New Trolls" e abriu uma ação contra seus ex-companheiros. A banda, sabendo muito bem que fora De Scalzi quem depositara o nome "New Trolls" na SIAE (Sociedade Italiana de Autoridades de Edição), viu-se forçado a encontrar um novo nome para "Canti d'innocenza, canti d'esperienza", álbum de lançamento iminente.

Como não foram capazes de fazê-lo a tempo, eles simplesmente colocaram um grande ponto de interrogação na capa e simplesmente indicaram seus primeiros nomes junto com as fotografias. Isso levou ao longo dos anos a atribuir o disco a "Nico, Gianni, Frank e Maurizio". Portanto, é, para todos os efeitos, o primeiro álbum da Ibis, ainda sem nome.

Após o abandono de Belleno (substituído por Rick Parnell, da Atomic Rooster), o grupo finalmente ganhou um nome, concebido por Salvi, um grande fã da cultura egípcia: Ibis, o símbolo do pássaro de Akh - o grupo decidiu, de fato, não seguir as várias dicas dos fãs após o famoso anúncio no Ciao 2001, uma revista semanal italiana fundada em 1968 pela fusão de Ciao Amici e Big, inicialmente chamada Ciao Big e publicada até 2000). Parnell só teve tempo de gravar "Sun supreme", sendo substituído, logo após, por Pasquale Venditto. Com a adição do guitarrista Renzo Tortora no lugar de Salvi, o grupo grava "Ibis", o último LP que foi um prelúdio de uma aproximação com De Scalzi e Belleno.

Ao mesmo tempo, os mesmos membros do grupo iniciaram outro projeto, a banda fantasma Tritons, que gravou e tocou covers exclusivamente em inglês.

HISTORY

After the failure of "Searching for a land", due to the other members to artistic and linguistic choices (the use of English) by Vittorio De Scalzi, there was the removal of the latter from the New Trolls. In the following album, "UT", De Scalzi appears in only one of the eight tracks. 

The line-up was therefore essentially composed of Nico Di Palo by voice and guitar, Maurizio Salvi on keyboards, Gianni Belleno on drums and Frank Laugelli on bass. De Scalzi, however, considered himself the holder of the name "New Trolls" and opened a lawsuit against his former companions. The band, knowing well that it was De Scalzi who had deposited the name "New Trolls" at SIAE (Società Italiana degli Autori ed Editori), found themselves forced to find a new name for "Canti d'innocenza, canti d'esperienza", album of imminent release.

Since they were not able to do so in good time, they simply put a big question mark on the cover and simply indicated their first names together with the photographs. This has led over the years to attribute the disc to "Nico, Gianni, Frank and Maurizio". Therefore, it is, to all intents and purposes, the first album of the Ibis, without yet named.

After the abandonment of Belleno (replaced by Rick Parnell of the Atomic Rooster) the group finally has a name, conceived by Salvi, a great fan of Egyptian culture: Ibis, the bird symbol of Akh - the group decided, in fact not to follow the various fan's tips after the famous announcement on Ciao 2001, an Italian weekly magazine founded in 1968 by the merger of Ciao Amici and Big, initially called Ciao Big and published until 2000). Parnell only had time to record "Sun supreme", being replaced, right after, by Pasquale Venditto. With the further addition of guitarist Renzo Tortora in place of Salvi, the group records "Ibis", the last LP which was a prelude to a rapprochement with De Scalzi and Belleno.

At the same time, the same members of the group started another project, the ghost band Tritons, which recorded and performed covers exclusively in English.
