HISTÓRIA

Jiří Schelinger nasceu em 6 de março de 1951 em Bousov, perto de Caslav. Seu pai era professor de música. Ele tinha um irmão mais novo, Milan Schelinger, que também era músico. No ensino fundamental, ele fundou a banda Nothing but Nothing, onde tocava guitarra. Naquela época, seu ídolo da guitarra era Brian Jones, da The Rolling Stones. Durante essa época ele também esteve detido por algum motivo e, antes do julgamento, encenou um falso suicídio para sair o mais rápido possível. Graças a isso, ele acabou em um hospital psiquiátrico em Bohnice e recebeu um livro azul, o que foi bastante importante para sua carreira. Após seu retorno, ele se juntou aos palcos do teatro Jiří Wolkr, onde ficou por cerca de um mês.

Ivo Trojan o levou ao grupo Smaragd. Ele logo se tornou a estrela número 1. Nesse grupo, em Liberec, ele conheceu sua primeira esposa Alena, com quem teve uma filha, Andrea. No entanto, ele não se casou e começou a cantar na The Happy Five após fim do relacionamento. O grupo focou principalmente no repertório de blues. Depois de algum tempo, no entanto, o grupo viajou para a Finlândia sem Schelinger e, assim, aceitou uma oferta de Karel Šíp da banda Faraon. Em 1979, J. Schelinger lança o LP "Nám se líbí". Após o som hard de "Hrrr na ně…", ele decide trabalhar num som semi-acústico. Apesar de ser um gênero não vinculado, não se pode negar um grau considerável de originalidade. O baterista Stárk, cansado das turnês, deixa a banda. Mas, mesmo com sua partida, a banda não desiste de trabalhar no novo projeto, "Zemětřesení", que devido ao seu som pesado, tinha uma grande chance de se tornar um dos álbums mais inovadores do rock tcheco em geral.

No entanto, isso não foi realizado porque, em abril de 1981, Jiří Schelinger foi a Bratislava a convite da STV. E, no dia 13 de abril de 1981, ele pula de uma ponte sobre o rio Danúbio, por razões inexplicáveis.

František Ringo Čech deixa o grupo, e é substituído por Milan Schelinger. A banda tenta preencher o vazio deixado pela ausência de Jiří Schelinger, colocando Jiří Hopp em seu lugar, e lançam um single. Porém, o grupo desmorona.

ESPECULAÇÕES SOBRE A MORTE

Segundo algumas informações, no dia 13 de abril de 1981, Jiří Schelinger sai sozinho, sem a banda - o que é bastante estranho, porque ele costumava ir com a banda em todos os lugares. HISTORY

Jiří Schelinger was born on March 6, 1951 in Bousov, near Caslav. His father was a music teacher. He had a younger brother, Milan Schelinger, who was also a musician. In elementary school, he founded the band Nothing but Nothing, where he played guitar. At that time, his guitar idol was Brian Jones of The Rolling Stones. During this time he was also detained for some reason and, before the trial, staged a false suicide to leave as soon as possible. Thanks to this, he ended up in a psychiatric hospital in Bohnice and received a blue book, which was very important for his career. Upon his return, he joined the stages of the Jiří Wolkr theater, where he stayed for about a month.

Ivo Trojan took him to the Smaragd group. He soon became the number one star. In this group, in Liberec, he met his first wife Alena, with whom he had a daughter, Andrea. However, he didn't get married and started singing at The Happy Five after the breakup. The group focused mainly on the blues repertoire. After some time, however, the group traveled to Finland without Schelinger and thus accepted an offer from Karel Šíp from the band Faraon. In addition to the repertoire of bars, he recorded several singles with the band, mainly the biggest hit of Czech popular music: "Holubí dům". However, he did not stay in the group and in 1973 he joined František Ringo Čech's bublegum group.

According to Čech's words, Schelinger was added to strengthen the band's sound. Gradually the group adds songs from Black Sabbath and Status Quo to its repertoire. During this process, Jiří Schelinger was also working on his first solo album, "Bájční muži", released in 1976.

In 1977, Jiří Schelinger and František Ringo Čech recorded the Czech Republic's first hard rock album: "Hrrr na ně…". The band was reinforced by the guitar wizard Stanislav Kubeš and drummer Jiří Stárk and shortly thereafter by bassist Jan Kavale. And the best group of 70 is in the world! Together they set off on a memorable trip to Russia, where they perform with the then famous English band Smokie.

In 1979, J. Schelinger released the LP "Nám se libí".After the hard sound of "Hrrr na ně…", he decides to work on a more semi-acoustic sound. Despite being an unrelated genre, a considerable degree of originality cannot be denied. Drummer Stárk, tired of touring, leaves the band. But even with their departure, the band does not give up working on the new project, "Zemětřesení", which due to its heavy sound, had a great chance of becoming one of the most innovative albums of Czech rock in general.

However, this was not done because, in April 1981, Jiří Schelinger went to Bratislava at the invitation of STV. And on April 13, 1981, he jumps off a bridge over the Danube for inexplicable reasons.

František Ringo Čech leaves the group, and is replaced by Milan Schelinger. The band tries to fill the void left by the absence of Jiří Schelinger by putting Jiří Hopp in their place, and release a single. However, the group collapses.

In 1993, a joint project by Brichta, Doležal, Henych and Smetaček comes together and, with the approval of Milan Schelinger and František Ringo Čech, release the album "Zemětřesení".

DEATH SPECULATIONS

According to some information on April 13, 1981, Jiří Schelinger goes out alone without the band - which is quite strange, because he used to go with the band everywhere. In the evening, after filming STV, he goes to U Františkánů restaurant, where he dines with local musicians and artists, and then with a young couple. This group is later accompanied by an unknown man, allegedly named Husak. Husak causes a bet and a subsequent jump to the Danube. Jiří Schelinger acceptes the bet to jump from Starý Most (Old Bridge) in Bratislava. Husak survives the jump from the bridge, but Jiří Schelinger never returns to the river bank.

However, his death was not fully resolved. There is speculation that this could be a premeditated murder invented by State Security. There is also speculation that the former State Security classes solved the case quickly and that the body said to be from Jiří Schelinger was not his. This theory is supported by the singer's brother Milan, who recently received the autopsy report, where the singer's body was described differently. The identity of the body has never been confirmed by any family member or acquaintance of Schelinger: the body found was in a high degree of decomposition and was 5 centimeters smaller. The conclusion that this featured body was really the singer's body was based on his dental arch.

His brother Milan Schelinger recently said his body was found on the banks of the Danube river, Slovakia, where he was buried as an unknown man.

LEGACY

His wide acceptance and nomination for the Grammy show that Schelinger's music is, due to its originality, something irreplaceable in the history of Czech rock. Jiří Schelinger was introduced to the Hall of Fame in 2004.
