Plus - Plus - 1973 (Progressive Jazz/Funk/Fusion/Rock {Bélgica})

Mais uma reedição de 2019, que deixei para postar já no finalzinho do ano.

O grupo belga lançou apenas este álbum que mistura

elementos de jazz, funk, brass rock, blues e progressive rock.
Anteriormente a banda atuava como banda de apoio
à dupla de irmãos Jess & James e se chamava The J.J. Band.
Ao se separarem, o grupo ainda lançou dois álbums
antes de mudarem o nome para Plus.

A banda era formada pelo guitarrista François Edouard G. Y. Weyer (mais conhecido

sob seu nome de artista Francis Goya - também tocou com a banda Placebo),

o baterista Bruno Castellucci (que além de lançar álbums solo, participou

como membro da The J.J. Band e Solis Lacus), o guitarrista Leslie Kent

(nome real Guy Theisen - participou no álbum "Ball of eyes" (1971), da banda Placebo),

o trumpetista Douglas Lucas (que gravou dois álbums com a The S.S.O. Orchestra e

lançou dois álbums solos - "Niara", de 1975, e "Chiaroscuro", de 1977)

o baixista Yvan de Souter (The J.J. Band, Placebo), o saxofonista

Ralph Benatar e o trombonista Mike Lovell.

O álbum foi originalmente lançado pelo selo belga Pink Elephant, em 1973

(PE 877.024 Y) e, depois, reeditado em formato de CD (VAG 022, 2019)

e vinil (VAG 020/VAG 021, 2019) pelo selo belga Veals & Geeks Records.

O álbum é bom, mas em minha opinião as coisas começam a ficar

mais interessantes a partir da faixa "What did you do".

As faixas bônus "Kentucky woman" e "Changing", são mais comerciais,

mas não menos interessantes, tornando a reedição ainda mais interessante.

Another reissue of 2019, which I left to post at the end of the year.

The Belgian group released this only album that mixes elements
of jazz, funk, brass rock, blues and progressive rock.
Previously the band acted as a support band for the brothers
Jess & James and was called The J.J. Band.
When they split up, the group still released two albums
before changing their name to Plus.

The band was formed by guitarist François Edouard GY Weyer (better known under

his artist name Francis Goya - also played with the band Placebo),

drummer Bruno Castellucci (who in addition to releasing solo albums, participated

as a member of The J.J. Band and Solis Lacus), guitarist Leslie Kent

(real name Guy Theisen - participated in Placebo's album "Ball of eyes" [1971]),

The album is good, but in my opinion things start to get more

interesting from the track "What did you do".

The bonus tracks "Kentucky woman" and "Changing" are more commercial,

but no less interesting, making the reissue even more interesting.
