Coyote foi uma banda de Cockeysville, Maryland. Antes de os membros se juntarem para formar a Coyote, eles tocaram em várias bandas de Baltimore. A banda era formada por: Rod Arment (teclados, vocal), Chuck Beaty (vocal, guitarra principal), Jim Kestle (baixo, vocal de apoio), Tim Lloyd (bateria, vocal de apoio) e Rusty Steele (teclados, guitarra base, vocal de apoio). O grupo era regular no circuito de clubes de Maryland e Washington, DC, mas, apesar de seu talento e entusiasmo, não conseguiu atrair a atenção de uma grande gravadora.

No final do ano, a banda começou a gravar um LP autofinanciado que foi somente intitulado "Coyote". O álbum apresenta uma fusão de jazz, country, blues, rural e progressive rock. Logo após o lançamento do álbum, a banda passou por uma grande mudança em sua formação, com a entrada do tecladista Brian Boyd, o vocalista David Gable e o baterista Dennis Meros. A banda aparentemente continuou a se apresentar até 1976 e então desistiu com vários membros se juntando a uma série de bandas locais.

Coyote was a band from Cockeysville, Maryland. Before the members came together to form Coyote, they played in various Baltimore bands. The band consisted of: Rod Arment (keyboards, vocal), Chuck Beaty (vocal, lead guitar), Jim Kestle (bass, backing vocal), Tim Lloyd (drums, backing vocal) and Rusty Steele (keyboards, rhythm guitar, backing vocal). The group were regulars on the Maryland and Washington, D.C. club circuit, but despite their talent and enthusiasm, they failed to attract major label attention.

At the end of the year, the band began recording a self-funded LP which was simply titled "Coyote". The album features a fusion of jazz, country, blues, rural and progressive rock. Shortly after the album's release, the band underwent a major line-up change, with the addition of keyboardist Brian Boyd, vocalist David Gable and drummer Dennis Meros. The band apparently continued to perform until 1976 and then folded with several members joining a series of local bands.
