Uno - Uno - 1974 (Progressive Rock {Itália})

HISTÓRIA

Formada a partir das cinzas da Osanna por Elio D'Anna e Danilo Rustici (esteve no início o percussionista Toni Esposito). No final de 1973 o grupo foi apresentado pelas revistas de música italianas que anunciavam sobre um LP em andamento para o recém-nascido selo Trident, mas esta colaboração não trouxe nenhum resultado e nos primeiros meses de 1974, com o baterista Enzo Vallicelli (da Hellza Poppin, e que também tocou com Osage Tribe e Claudio Rocchi), Uno foi a Londres, no prestigioso Trident Studios, para gravar seu único álbum para o Fonit Cetra, com a colaboração do letrista Nick Sedwick e da cantora Liza Strike (que havia participado no álbum da Pink Floyd "The dark side of the moon"). O disco não se afasta muito do estilo da Osanna (era "Landscapes of life"), e contém quatro canções cantadas em inglês e três em italiano, com excelentes canções como "I cane e la volpe", mas não deu ao grupo o sucesso esperado.

Uma versão totalmente em inglês também foi lançada para o mercado estrangeiro, com uma bela capa surreal de Hipgnosis (ainda com uma ligação com a Pink Floyd), mas também não teve sucesso. O trio funcionou muito bem em estúdio mas a digressão promocional do álbum, onde os concertos da Uno foram abertos por Tito Schipa Jr. que apresentou o seu álbum "Io ed io solo", foi bastante conturbada pela impossibilidade de atuar ao vivo a riqueza dos arranjos e dos numerosos overdubs no disco. O irmão de Danilo Rustici, Corrado (da Cervello), foi então chamado para tocar guitarra e baixo como músico adicional ao vivo.

A recepção um tanto morna da imprensa causou a rápida dissolução do grupo e D'Anna e os irmãos Rustici abandonaram a Uno para se dedicarem a um novo experimento em uma banda de fusion: Nova. Enzo Vallicelli tocou por anos com muitos artistas italianos importantes e ainda hoje (com o nome de Vince Vallicelli) um baterista apreciado na área de blues.

STORY

At the end of 1973 the group was presented by Italian music magazines that announced an ongoing LP for the newborn Trident label, but this collaboration did not bring any results and in the first months of 1974, with drummer Enzo Vallicelli (from Hellza Poppin, who also played with Osage Tribe and Claudio Rocchi), Uno went to London, at the prestigious Trident Studios, to record his only album for Fonit Cetra, with the collaboration of lyricist Nick Sedwick and singer Liza Strike (who had participated on Pink Floyd's album "The dark side of the moon"). The album does not deviate much from Osanna's style ("Landscapes of life" era), and contains four songs sung in English and three in Italian, with excellent songs like "I cane e la volpe", but it did not give the group success expected.

A fully English version was also launched for the foreign market, with a beautiful surreal cover of Hipgnosis (still with a connection with Pink Floyd), but it was also unsuccessful. The trio worked very well in the studio but the album's promotional tour, where Uno's concerts were opened by Tito Schipa Jr. who presented his album "Io ed io solo", was very troubled by the impossibility of performing live the wealth of arrangements and numerous overdubs on the disc. Danilo Rustici's brother Corrado (from Cervello) was then asked to play guitar and bass as an additional live musician.

The somewhat lukewarm reception of the press caused the group to quickly dissolve and D'Anna and the Rustici brothers left Uno to dedicate themselves to a new experiment in a fusion band: Nova. Enzo Vallicelli played for years with many important Italian artists and even today (under the name of Vince Vallicelli) a beloved drummer in the area of ​​blues.

DEATH OF DANILO RUSTICI

Danilo Rustici died in Naples on February 26, 2021, aged 72, a victim of COVID-19.
