Carnegie foi uma banda americana de rock progressivo sinfônico
de 6 membros, formada pelos gêmeos Mark e Clark Seymour,
que tinham formação clássica. Mark e Clark tiveram
uma carreira bem-sucedida antes da Carnegie
como The Mark & Clark Band.
Seu único álbum, "Rock and roll symphony", nunca foi
lançado pela gravadora CBS, que insistia em empurrar a banda em
uma direção comercial. Os membros da banda resistiram ferozmente e
até hoje, as fitas originais ainda estão nos cofres da CBS/Sony,
coletando poeira. No entanto, a Shroom Productions conseguiu
desenterrar algumas demos e gravações ao vivo.
Os refrões e os pianos de cauda acrescentam certa pompa
e grandeza que lembram os dias de glória da Queen, mas
a música às vezes atinge uma complexidade que lembra Yes
ou Gentle Giant. A musicalidade é estreita (alguns solos explosivos
e violentos do guitarrista principal) e o material é intrinsecamente
orquestrado, apresentando alguns ritmos de direção e refrões cativantes.

Carnegie as The Mark & Clark Band.
Their only album, "Rock and roll symphony", was never
released by the CBS label, which insisted on pushing the band in
a commercial direction. The band members resisted fiercely and
to this day, the original tapes are still in the CBS/Sony vaults,
collecting dust. However, Shroom Productions managed
to dig up some demos and live recordings.
The choruses and grand pianos add some pomp and grandeur
that resemble Queen's glory days, but the song sometimes
reaches a complexity that resembles Yes or Gentle Giant.
The musicality is narrow (some explosive and violent solos by
the lead guitarist) and the material is intrinsically orchestrated,
featuring some directing rhythms and catchy choruses.
The only flaw is the poor sound quality.

I would shudder to think how many great unreleased albums from this period there are sitting in vaults of these big record companies.... to think in this day and age this type of suppression is still ongoing... sickening.
