Epidermis foi uma banda de rock progressivo

História

Os precursores foram os Ancestors, um grupo beat de Idstein fundado nos anos sessenta. Em 1971, eles optaram por sons mais sofisticados e se renomearam como Epidermis. Os membros fundadores foram Rolf Lonz (guitarra, flauta, vocal), que escreveu quase todas as peças, Michael Kurz (teclados) e Reiner Neeb (bateria). No mesmo ano, eles se mudaram para Wiesbaden, onde foram acompanhados por um quarto homem: Wolfgang Wünsche (baixo elétrico). Com esta formação, gravaram as peças para um LP no estúdio de gravação Kersten em Neustadt an der Weinstrasse em 1975, no qual não conseguiram encontrar uma editora na altura.

O álbum só foi publicado posteriormente, em 2020, como "June 1975". A segunda tentativa deu certo: em 1977 foi lançado seu LP "Genius of original force", também gravado no estúdio Kersten. "Muster-Burger", seu terceiro álbum, foi lançado em 1982 e "Feel me", seu quarto e último álbum, foi lançado apenas em CD em 1991. Após, a Epidermis chega ao seu fim. Michael Kurz e Reiner Neeb já faleceram, Rolf Lonz ainda é músico ativo.

History

The precursors were Ancestors, an Idstein beat group founded in the sixties. In 1971, they opted for more sophisticated sounds and renamed themselves Epidermis. The founding members were Rolf Lonz (guitar, flute, vocals), who wrote almost all the pieces, Michael Kurz (keyboards) and Reiner Neeb (drums). In the same year, they moved to Wiesbaden, where they were accompanied by a fourth man: Wolfgang Wünsche (electric bass). With this formation, they recorded the pieces for an LP at the Kersten recording studio in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse in 1975, in which they were unable to find a publisher at the time.

The album was only published later, in 2020, as "June 1975". The second attempt was successful: in 1977 his LP "Genius of original force" was released, also recorded at the Kersten studio. "Muster-Burger", his third album, was released in 1982 and "Feel me", his fourth and last album, was released only on CD in 1991. After, Epidermis comes to an end. Michael Kurz and Reiner Neeb have passed away, Rolf Lonz is still an active musician.
