CWT & The Rats (Heavy Progressive Brass Rock/Hard Glam Rock {UK})

CWT foi uma banda britânica de heavy jazz blues brass rock. Apesar de ser dirigida e co-produzida por Andrew Loog Oldham (do selo inglês Immediate) seu único LP - "The hundredweight" - e único single - "Widow woman/Signed D.C." - foram originalmente lançados apenas na Alemanha pelo selo Kuckuck Records, fundado em 01 de abril de 1968 por Eckart Rahn. CWT foi uma das bandas mais pesadas da Kuckuck Records, que também foi o lar de bandas como Out of Focus, Armageddon e Murphy Blend, mas a gravadora se tornou mais famosa pelos discos da Ihre Kinder.

O lançamento original de "The hundredweight" (Kuckuck Records, 2375 022) não é fácil de encontrar. A gravadora relançou o álbum em formato LP em um número limitado de 750 cópias em 1991, junto com sua versão em CD. Em 2010, a Missing Vinyl Records - uma gravadora grega de reedições de vinil fundada em outubro de 2008 - também lançou sua versão em LP.

THE RATS

Em 1973, os membros da banda se juntaram a David Kubinec para formar uma nova banda The Rats, que lançou um single, "Turtle dove/Oxford donna", pelo selo Goodear Records em 1974. O álbum era mais voltado para o hard glam rock. Como o álbum estava em preparação para produção, dois membros da banda se desentenderam com Millar e foram demitidos. Outros músicos, Roddy MacKenzie, também conhecido como "Jeep Solid" e Jeff Allen, foram convocados às pressas para uma foto da banda, que aparece dentro do LP, mas eles nunca tocaram no disco nem em nenhum outro lugar como The Rats. Na verdade, The Rats, mesmo com os membros da banda que tocaram no disco, nunca tocou ao vivo.

O álbum foi originalmente lançado em 1974 no Reino Unido, Alemanha e França pelo selo Goodear Records, e na Austrália pelo selo The Rocket Record Company. E em 1975, novamente na Austrália, pelo selo Goodear Records. O álbum ficou esquecido por muitos anos, até que a RPM Records, em 2006, se interessou pelo material ao lançá-lo em formato de CD como "First long player record". A versão em CD foi seguida por "Second long player record" (VP 468) no selo Voiceprint Records em 2009.

Although being managed and co-produced by Andrew Loog Oldham (of English label Immediate) its only LP - "The hundredweight" - and only single - "Widow woman/Signed D.C." -  were originally only released in Germany on Kuckuck Records label, founded on 01 April 1968 by Eckart Rahn. CWT was one of the heaviest acts on Kuckuck Records, which was also the home for bands like Out of Focus, Armageddon and Murphy Blend, but the label become more famous for the records of Ihre Kinder.

The original release of "The hundredweight" (Kuckuck Records, 2375 022) is not easy to find. Kuckuck Records re-released the album in LP format in a limited number of 750 copies in 1991, along with its CD version. In 2010, Missing Vinyl Records - a Greek vinyl reissue label founded in October 2008 - also released its LP album version.

THE RATS

In 1973 the band's members joined David Kubinec to form a new band The Rats, which released one single, "Turtle dove/Oxford donna", on the label Goodear Records in 1974. The album was more hard glam rock-oriented. As the album was in preparation for production, two of the band members fell out with Millar and were sacked. Another players, Roddy MacKenzie aka "Jeep Solid" and Jeff Allen, were hastily drafted in for a band photo, which appears inside the LP gatefold, but they never played on the record nor anywhere else as The Rats. Actually, The Rats even with the band members who did play on the record, never played live.

The album was originally released in 1974 in  the UK, Germany and France on the Goodear Records label, and in Australia on The Rocket Record Company label. And in 1975, again in Australia, on the Goodear Records label. The album was forgotten for many years, until RPM Records, in 2006, showed interest in the material by releasing it in CD format as "First long player record". The CD version was followed by "Second long player record" (VP 468) on Voiceprint Records label in 2009.
