Neil "Crash" Coffin é um cantor, guitarrista, compositor, nascido em 7 de janeiro de 1941, em Berea (Ohio, EUA). Aos 16 anos de idade, ele iniciou sua carreira musical. No final da década de 1950, fascinado pelo rock and roll junto com os amigos Bil Werwage (guitarra) e Hermann Roop (guitarra) e os jovens músicos convidados Flip Nickels (guitarra) e Jimmy Martin (bateria), ele fundou uma banda de rockabilly chamada Neil Coffin and The Pallbearers.

O nome da banda era inaceitável o suficiente para aparecer como Neil Coffin and The Dukes no programa de televisão Gene Carroll Show. Depois de algum tempo, ocorreu a mudança de pessoal: Chuck Love e o baixista Eddie Kramer se juntam ao grupo. O grupo permanece ativo por cerca de dois anos. In the late 1950s, fascinated by rock and roll along with friends Bil Werwage (guitar) and Hermann Roop (guitar) and young guest musicians Flip Nickels (guitar) and Jimmy Martin (drums), he founded a rockabilly band called Neil Coffin and The Pallbearers.

The band's name was unacceptable enough to appear as Neil Coffin and The Dukes on the TV program Gene Carroll Show. After a while, there was a change of staff: Chuck Love and bassist Eddie Kramer joined the group. The group remains active for about two years, unfortunately, the decline of the rockabilly era in the early 1960s caused the band to split.

Neil continued his career, adopting the nickname "Crash". He participated in various musical projects in the Ohio area and in 1974 decided to make a solo venture - recording an album with the help of a large group of musicians. The material was recorded at Motion Picture Sound Studios in Cleveland and was released in 1974 on the label Mus-I-Col (a label located in Columbus, Ohio). Coffin made individual artwork for the covers of the few copies of the LP that came into the public's hands because he could not afford to print the covers.

Today, the album is much in demand by early 1970s psychedelic rock collectors around the world. It's not unfairly true as it contains one of the best psychedelic songs ever recorded - "God loves the loser" - and some other great dark psychedelic tracks.
