Logan Dwight - Logan Dwight - 1972 (Progressive/Brass Rock {Itália})

Logan Dwight lançou um álbum e um single pela gravadora PDU. Junto com Cincinnato, esse foi um dos poucos lançamentos de rock e prog lançados por esta gravadora não tão interessada nesses estilos musicais.

O trio era composto pela cantora Donatella Luttazzi e os guitarristas Mereu e Ventura, e foi formado em Roma no ano de 1970 sob o nome de Genesi, assinando contrato com a subsidiária da RCA Delta, que lhes deu a chance de gravar algumas faixas para um álbum. Os três músicos foram ajudados pelo baixista Claudio Barbera junto com alguns experientes músicos escoceses que então moravam em Roma: o cantor Alex Ligertwood (da Camel - que lançou em 1970 o álbum "Under age"), o tecladista Mike Fraser e o baterista Derek Wilson.

O estilo da banda era um rock tingido de R&B, e até mesmo o organista Brian Auger, que estava frequentemente na Itália, ficou tão impressionado com a banda que ofereceu ao cantor Ligertwood o papel de cantor em sua nova banda Oblivion Express, e a banda Genesi se desfez.

Um novo contrato foi fechado com a gravadora PDU, e uma nova formação com o vocalista Federico D'Andrea (anteriormente aparecendo em singles de Manuel De Sica & Gli Ancients e Myosotis) foi estabelecida, com a banda sendo ajudada pelo baterista Jean Paul Ceccarelli e vários músicos convidados de estúdio, incluindo o tecladista Toto Torquati.

Seu único álbum foi lançado em 1972, cantado em inglês e com as vozes de Donatella Luttazzi e Federico D'Andrea, mas também incluindo três faixas (num total de sete) tiradas das sessões de 1970 com a antiga formação da Genesi, liderada por Alex Ligertwood. Por esta razão, o álbum é bastante fragmentado e não particularmente original, tendo uma forte semelhança com modelos estrangeiros, especialmente algum rock mainstream americano, e é marcado por arranjos orquestrais em algumas faixas. A faixa de abertura, "Logan Dwight", também foi lançada como single, juntamente com a orquestrada "Moments of eternity".

Após a separação da banda, o cantor-guitarrista Federico D'Andrea formou a Libra.

Logan Dwight released an album and a single on the PDU label. Along with Cincinnato, this was one of the few rock and prog releases released by this label not so interested in these musical styles.

The trio consisted of singer Donatella Luttazzi and guitarists Mereu and Ventura, and was formed in Rome in the year 1970 under the name Genesi, signing a contract with the subsidiary of RCA Delta, which gave them the chance to record some tracks for a album. The three musicians were helped by bassist Claudio Barbera along with some experienced Scottish musicians who were then living in Rome: singer Alex Ligertwood (from Camel - who released the 1970 album "Under age"), keyboardist Mike Fraser and drummer Derek Wilson.

The band's style was rock tinged with R&B, and even organist Brian Auger, who was often in Italy, was so impressed with the band that he offered singer Ligertwood the singing role in his new band Oblivion Express, and the band Genesis disbanded.

A new deal was struck with the PDU label, and a new lineup with vocalist Federico D'Andrea (previously appearing on singles by Manuel De Sica & Gli Ancients and Myosotis) was established, with the band being helped by drummer Jean Paul Ceccarelli and several guest studio musicians, including keyboardist Toto Torquati.

Their only album was released in 1972, sung in English and with the voices of Donatella Luttazzi and Federico D'Andrea, but also including three tracks (a total of seven) taken from the 1970 sessions with the former Genesi lineup, led by Alex Ligertwood. For this reason, the album is rather fragmented and not particularly original, bearing a strong resemblance to foreign models, especially some mainstream American rock, and is marked by orchestral arrangements on some tracks. The opening track, "Logan Dwight", was also released as a single, along with the orchestral "Moments of eternity".

After the band split, singer-guitarist Federico D'Andrea formed Libra.
