Gipsy Love (Blues/Brass/Classic/Prog Rock {Áustria})

Gipsy Love

A banda gravou apenas dois álbums e dois singles - "Just a little love/Let me come over" (1971) e "El bayon/The fortune tellers" (1973) - durante a sua existência.

ESTILO

Os vocais são excelentes, e posso destacar, no primeiro álbum, as faixas "I observed so many changes", "Don't be surprised", "She smiles" e "What's it all about". No segundo álbum a sessão de metais são mais presentes, e dele posso destacar as faixas "But forever", "Viennese winter", "Job in the docks" e "Moon song". Há também uns excelentes trabalhos nos violões nas faixas "Warm up" e "So long, friends".

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Gipsy Love was a legendary
Austrian rock band founded in
1971, but who broke up two years
later due to the departure
of Charly Ratzer.

HISTORY

Gipsy Love was founded in 1971 by Charly Ratzer, Kurt Hauenstein, Peter Wolf, Jano Stojka and George Dogette. In the same year the band recorded their first album, which had the participation of Richard Schönherz as a guest musician, on keyboards. Richard Schönherz is best known for his work with the Austrian group Supermax.

In 1972, Kurt Hauenstein was replaced by Harri Stojka on bass. For both of them, as well as for Peter Wolf, the band was the starting point of their later and extremely successful careers. Like Charly Ratzer's early bands, Gispy Love also, and above all, had a huge influence on the Austrian music scene, not only for the influence the band had on the career of the musicians involved, but also for the band's musical quality. Gipsy Love was considered one of the best musical bands of their time.

In 1973, Charly Ratzer went to America. Peter Wolf still tried to stay with the band, but six months later, Gispy Love broke up. The band recorded only two albums and two singles - "Just a little love/Let me come over" (1971) and "El bayon/The fortune tellers" (1973) - during their existence.

STYLE

The band presented a sophisticated work, always highlighting the blues in their compositions. As it develops, the album becomes even more progressive, but completely away from krautrock, as mentioned by some websites and blogs. The vocals are excellent, and I can highlight, on the first album, the tracks "I observed so many changes", "Don't be surprised", "She smiles" and "What's it all about". On the second album, the brass section are more present, and from it I can highlight the tracks "But forever", "Viennese winter", "Job in the docks" and "Moon song". There is also some excellent acoustic guitar works on the tracks "Warm up" and "So long, friends".
