HISTÓRIA

COMEÇOS (1967-1968)

O grupo, que foi formado em meados de 1967, era originalmente um trio formado por Gérard Fournier (conhecido como "Papillon") no baixo e vocais, Pierre Fanen na guitarra (e futuro membro da banda de jazz-rock Zoo) e Jean-Pierre Prévotat na bateria. Esta formação não grava nenhum disco e tem por mérito apenas que tenha dado o nome ao grupo.

Em 1968, Pierre Fanen deixou o grupo e foi substituído por Alain Renaud na guitarra e nos vocais. É nesse line-up que sai o primeiro single, com letras em inglês. O sucesso esperado não vem e Alain Renaud decide sair. Para substituí-lo chegam François Jeanneau, com teclados e saxofone, e Paul Farges na guitarra. Esta nova formação publica um canto único para o primeiro lado em francês e o segundo em inglês. O lado A, "Élégie a Gabrielle", é baseado em uma notícia, o suicídio de Gabrielle Russier, professora do ensino médio apaixonada por um de seus alunos.

SUCESSO (1969-1973)

O grupo só se mantém desde o final de 1969 até o início de 1970, durante um período difícil. Triangle novamente perde seu guitarrista e esta partida marca a chegada de Marius "Mimi" Lorenzini e sua guitarra. Este novo quarteto é a banda "oficial" do grupo, a mais sustentável, de 1970 a meados de 1973, publica dois álbuns (o primeiro ainda é cantado principalmente em inglês), bem como um punhado de singles.

Triangle finalmente encontra o sucesso com o título "Peut-être demain", que o grupo interpreta no filme de Claude Zidi, "Les bidasses en folie" - no qual também se encontra Martin Circus. O filme é o melhor sucesso cinematográfico de 1971, na França, com mais de sete milhões de ingressos.

A imprensa da época se opõe aos grupos Triangle, descritos como intelectuais e Les Variations, considerados mais desleixados, um pouco como a década anterior em torno da The Beatles e da The Rolling Stones, na Inglaterra. Para os jornalistas, a Triangle e a Ange compartilham o título de "Melhor grupo francês". François Faton Cahen (Magma) e Jean-Michel Jarre participam do segundo álbum, comumente chamado de "Viens avec nous", no título principal do álbum que sai no formato 45. Um ano depois, a banda lançou o single "L'arbre de juin", que contou com a participação de Daniel Balavoine nos corais.

Em 1972, o grupo está em Bobino e Olympia, na primeira parte de Robert Charlebois. O sucesso comercial induz tensões, desacordos e divergências de orientação dentro do grupo que Gérard Fournier (baixo) deixa. Ele tenta uma carreira solo, mas sem sucesso. Para substituí-lo, os três membros restantes, dos quais apenas Jean-Pierre Prévotat (bateria) esteve presente desde o início da aventura, recrutaram René Devaux (baixo) e Denis Duhazé (guitarra, vocal). Com o contributo desta segunda guitarra, o som do grupo endurece, sem perder os sons jazzísticos, devido ao brass de François Jeanneau. O quinteto publica o primeiro álbum intitulado "Homonymie" e quatro singles 45. O álbum é gravado em parte no Abbey Road Studios, e Stéphane Grappelli participa da música "Éloge de la folie".

SEPARAÇÃO (1974)

O grupo se dissolve durante o ano de 1974, após a publicação do último single "Un ticket pour .../Dis-moi", muito mal distribuído. Gérard Fournier morreu prematuramente em 3 de janeiro de 1989, após septicemia de origem pulmonar. Jean-Pierre Prévotat, nascido em 1945, morreu em 27 de janeiro de 2011. Ele foi um dos muitos bateristas de Johnny Hallyday.
Mimi Lorenzini, nascida em 1949, morreu de um ataque cardíaco em 12 de dezembro de 2014.

RETORNO (2018)

O grupo foi reformado, de forma efêmera, a tempo de interpretar os principais sucessos do grupo, na noite de segunda-feira, 20 de agosto de 2018, durante a jam que aconteceu no final do Festival Crescendo de Saint-Palais-Sur-Mer, com Denis Duhaze (vocal), Gerard Gabbay (guitarra), Robert Gabbay (baixo), Jonathan Lamarque (bateria) e Mario Gilgert (teclados).

STORY

BEGINNINGS (1967-1968)

The group, which was formed in mid-1967, was originally a trio formed by Gérard Fournier (known as "Papillon") on bass and vocals, Pierre Fanen on guitar (and future member of the jazz-rock band Zoo) and Jean-Pierre Prévotat on drums. This line-up does not record any disc and has for only merit that to have given the name to the group.

During 1968, Pierre Fanen left the group, he was replaced by Alain Renaud on guitar and vocals. It's in this line-up that comes out the first single, with lyrics in English. The expected success is doesn't come and Alain Renaud decides to leave. To replace him arrive François Jeanneau, with keyboards and saxophone, and Paul Farges on guitar. This new formation publishes a single singing for the first side in French and the second in English. The side A, "Élégie a Gabrielle", is based on a news item, the suicide of Gabrielle Russier, high school teacher in love with one of her students.

SUCCESS (1969-1973)

The group only holds from the end of 1969 to the beginning of 1970, during a difficult period. Triangle again loses its guitarist and this departure marks the arrival of Marius "Mimi" Lorenzini and his guitar. This new quartet is the group's "official" band, the most sustainable, from 1970 until mid-1973, it publishes two albums (the first album is still sung mostly in English), as well as a handful of singles.

Triangle finally meets the success with the title "Peut-être demain", that the group interprets in the film of Claude Zidi, "Les bidasses en folie" - in which one also finds Martin Circus. The film is the best film success of 1971, in France, with more than seven million admissions.

The press of the time opposes the groups Triangle, described as intellectual and Les Variations, considered more sloppy, a bit like the previous decade around The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, in England. For journalists, Triangle and Ange share the title of "Best French group". François Faton Cahen (Magma) and Jean-Michel Jarre participate in the second album, commonly called "Viens avec nous", in the flagship title of the album that comes out in 45 format. A year later, the band released the single "L'arbre de juin" which had the participation of Daniel Balavoine in choirs.

In 1972, the group is in Bobino and Olympia, in the first part of Robert Charlebois. The commercial success induces tensions, disagreements and divergences of orientation within the group that Gérard Fournier (bass) leaves. He tries a solo career but without success. To replace him, the remaining three members, of whom only Jean-Pierre Prévotat (drums) has been present since the beginning of the adventure, recruited René Devaux (bass) and Denis Duhazé (guitar, vocals). With the contribution of this second guitar, the sound of the group hardens, without losing the jazzy sounds, due to the brass of François Jeanneau. The quintet publishes the first album titled "Homonymie" and four singles 45. The album is recorded in part at the Abbey Road Studios, and Stéphane Grappelli participates in the song "Éloge de la folie".

SEPARATION (1974)

The group dissolves during the year 1974, after the publication of a last single "Un ticket pour.../Dis-moi", very poorly distributed. Gérard Fournier died prematurely on January 3, 1989, following septicemia of pulmonary origin. Jean-Pierre Prévotat, born in 1945, died on January 27, 2011. He was one of the many drummers of Johnny Hallyday.
Mimi Lorenzini, born in 1949, died of a heart attack on 12 December 2014.

RETURN (2018)

The group was reformed, in an ephemeral way, in time to interpret the main successes of the group, the evening of Monday, August 20, 2018, during the jam which took place at the end of the Festival Crescendo of Saint-Palais-Sur-Mer, with Denis Duhaze (vocals), Gerard Gabbay (guitar), Robert Gabbay (bass), Jonathan Lamarque (drums) and Mario Gilgert (keyboards).
