Eiliff (Krautrock/Progressive Jazz Rock {Alemanha})

Formada no final dos anos 60 por Rainer Brüninghaus, Houschäng Nejadepour, Detlev Landmann, Herbert J. Kalveram e Bill Brown, a Eiliff era uma banda instrumental alemã que transformou o fusion em sua cabeça com um par de álbuns de estúdio apresentando uma jam ao estilo de Canterbury com baixo, violão e teclados, além de alguns instrumentos étnicos (principalmente o sitar). Dois álbuns ao vivo também foram lançados, um dos quais só saiu 30 anos depois. Estando um pouco fora de sintonia com a então dominante tradição do "kosmiche", a banda nunca fez um nome para si mesma, apesar de mostrar uma musicalidade fenomenal. As referências incluem Soft Machine, King Crimson, Colosseum, Nucleus, VDGG, Miles Davis e Frank Zappa.

Seu álbum homônimo (de 1971) apresenta alguns teclados matadores (piano elétrico), violão selvagem e interação com o saxofone, com grooves muito complexos e jams estendidas. O álbum similar, mas mais psicodélico, "Girlrls!" (de 1972) é ainda mais improvisado e "jammy", com frequentes acenos para King Crimson e Deep Purple. Em ambos os álbuns ao vivo, o "Close encounters with their third one" e o "Bremen 1972" (ambos gravados no ano de 1972 e somente lançados nos anos de 1999 e 2003, respectivamente), a banda se move, sem esforço, de riffs vigorosos a formas mais livres de passagens com igual habilidade. A qualidade do som é surpreendentemente boa em ambos. Intenso "head-prog" ao estilo do início dos anos 70, que irá agradar aos fãs da Soft Machine, Embryo e Brainstorm.

Formed in the late 60's by Rainer Brüninghaus, Houschäng Nejadepour, Detlev Landmann, Herbert J. Kalveram and Bill Brown, Eiliff was a German instrumental band that turned the fusion into their head with a couple of studio albums with Canterbury-style jams with bass, guitar and keyboards, in addition to some ethnic instruments (mainly sitar). Two live albums were also released, one of which only came out 30 years later. Slightly out of tune with the then dominant kosmiche tradition, the band never made a name for itself, despite showing phenomenal musicality. References include Soft Machine, King Crimson, Coliseum, Nucleus, VDGG, Miles Davis and Frank Zappa.

His homonymous album (1971) features some killer keyboards (electric piano), wild guitar and saxophone interaction, with very complex grooves and extended jams. The similar but more psychedelic album, "Girlrls!" (1972) is even more improvised and jammy, with frequent nods to King Crimson and Deep Purple. In the two live albums, "Close encounters with their third one" and "Bremen 1972" (both recorded in the year 1972 and released only in 1999 and 2003, respectively), the band moves effortlessly from vigorous riffs, to free-forms passages with equal ability. The sound quality is surprisingly good in both. Intense "head-prog" in the style of the early 70's, which will please fans of Soft Machine, Embryo and Brainstorm.
