Partes de músicas como "Prelude willow’s end" e "My Mary (More than ever)" se encaixam bem no gênero de rock psicodélico da época, outras passagens são mais folk-pop.

Em Jade, Aumann era tecladista, compositor, cantor e arranjador.
Outros membros foram o guitarrista/compositor/cantor Randy Morse, o baixista e cantor Nick Root, o baterista Timothy Nixon e o parceiro de negócios/composição e co-produtor David Smith.
A banda esteve ativa entre os anos 1970-1973.

James Aumann was doing his usual tax-paying job as treasurer of Warren County last year when he received an email about a secret from his old past.
It was by Darren Blase, co-owner of Northside's Shake It Records. He wanted to know if the county treasurer was the same James Aumann, who once led an obscure local rock group called Jade.

The band released an album in 1971, "Faces of Jade", on a small Cincinnati label called General American Records.
Aumann left the University of Miami to play in Jade at the time.
When that failed, he joined the banking industry - graduated in finance from the American Institute of Banking and became vice president of the former Community National Bank of Warren County. Fifteen years ago he was hired to be the deputy chief treasurer of the county and he then rose.

In November 2014 Shake It debuted its "Faces of Jade" vinyl reissue with the album's original cover.
Blase believes "Faces of Jade" is an example of how regional American bands were inspired by the sophisticated and revolutionary Beatles rock and pop.
His 10 songs are artistically ambitious.
Aumann and the band used the studio to create songs with ambitiously ornate vocal and instrumental arrangements, groundbreaking recording techniques and substantial melodies. In short, it was not just garage rock. Portions of songs like "Prelude willow's end" and "My Mary (More than ever)" fit well into the psychedelic rock genre of the time, other passages are more folk-pop.

In Jade, Aumann was keyboardist, composer, singer and arranger.
Other members included guitarist/songwriter/singer Randy Morse, bassist and singer Nick Root, drummer Timothy Nixon and business/songwriting partner and co-producer David Smith.
The band was active between the years 1970-1973.
