Pulsar (Space Progressive Rock {França})

Pulsar foi formada na cidade de Lyon. Como um nome, o grupo tomou o nome de um fenômeno astrofísico, que é uma poderosa radiação eletromagnética impulsiva de estrelas de nêutrons rotativas. Pulsar was formed in the city of Lyon. As a name, the group took the name of an astrophysical phenomenon, which is a powerful impulsive electromagnetic radiation of rotating neutron stars. The main influence on the band's work was: Pink Floyd, King Crimson and classical music, especially the work of Gustav Mahler.

The first line-up of Pulsar includes pianist and organist Jacques Roman, drummer and percussionist Victor Bosch, guitarist and vocalist Gilbert Gandil and bassist Philippe Roman. In the summer of 1974, they joined the fifth member Roland Richard, who played perfectly the flute and the keyboards. The manager was a longtime friend of the founding members of Xavier Dubuc's group.

In Pulsar's music, in addition to space rock, there are elements of krautrock and psychedelia, which are harmoniously intertwined in symphonic mosaics of arrangements. Predominantly instrumental compositions are filled with mutable modes and, from time to time, emerging vocals add to their music a romantic, pungent melancholy. The Mellotron and the Moog synthesizer especially help musicians to create the effect of planetary sadness and absorbing peace. But the special originality of the team was given through the experiences with the electronics and the use of the flute.

The group met a grateful audience in England and France with the release of their first album, "Pollen", released in early 1975. The mass media noticed this debut album as the birth of the "French Pink Floyd". The team immediately managed to sell 5,000 copies of the release. And the album attracted the attention not only of fans of the progressive scene, but also of the promoters of concerts.

In February, there were significant changes in composition. Philip Roman was forced to leave the group for health reasons, and instead Michel Masson joined the band. In April 1976, participants began to create the second LP, "The strands of the future", which did not take long to wait. The French press took the job very well, and British musicologists, who were very generous in praise, drew attention to this. If on the debut album the influence of Pink Floyd was felt, then the second album brought the musicians much more personal. This album sold 40,000 copies in just six months, losing only to Ange in number of albums sold.

The third album, called "Halloween", was published in December 1977. This conceptual work is considered not only the best album of the band but also one of the ten best symphonic rock albums in the world. The mysterious pastoral parts performed on the mellotron in this wonderful disc are complemented by guitars and flute, and the dark and heavy impressionist sounds of electronic keyboards are harmoniously combined with the classical cello and the clarinet.

In 1981, the album "Bienvenue au conseil d'administration!" Was created based on the story of Austrian novelist Peter Handke (Peter Handke) with the participation of director Bruno Carlucci (Bruno Carlucci). The influence of Bruno Carlucci, who interested the musicians of the band in his plays, made this record seem like a play.
