Os irmãos Kaplan vieram de Chicago, Illinois.

Inicialmente uma dupla de irmãos, Richard e Ed, habilmente apoiados por Scott Klynas na guitarra

e Jeff Czech no baixo, lançaram seu primeiro álbum "Universal sounds" em 1968.

Tendo expandido o line-up para incluir um terceiro Kaplam Brother,

John, eles lançaram outros dois álbuns

- "The Kaplan Brothers", em 1975, e "Nightbird", em 1976 -

como um trio, levando a arte da música lounge a novos patamares no processo.

O som da The Kaplam Brothers simplesmente sintetiza o conceito

de um ato de lounge do Holiday Inn tentando ir à moda.

The Kaplan Brothers hailed from Chicago Illinois.

Initially a duo of brothers, Richard and Ed, ably supported by Scott Klynas on guitar

and Jeff Czech on bass, released their first album "Universal sounds" in 1968.

Having expanded the line-up to include a third Kaplam Brother,

John, they released two further album
- "The Kaplan Brothers" in 1975 and "Nightbird" in 1976 -

as a trio taking the art of lounge music to new heights in the process.

The Kaplam Brothers' sound simply epitomize the concept

of a Holiday Inn lounge act trying to go hip.

One spin makes it clear why these guys are so popular amongst collectors:

a mix of originals, popular MOR hits and the truly bizarre.

These guys must have been a blast to hear live

(particular after a couple of beers).

The brothers were actually pretty good singers with

a knack for close vocal harmonies.

Luckily what a distinguished them from so much of the competition was

their apparent self-confidence and unique sense of Holiday Inn-styled schmalz,

which reflected lots of congos and an affection for Ennio Morricone-styled, whistles.

The liner notes feom their second album aptly describes where these guys were come from:

"Three funky cats, all brothers, having just as much fun in stage as their audience."
