HISTÓRIA

Jupiter Sunset foi uma banda francesa pouco conhecida que cantou em inglês e também em russo ("Novgorod"). Os fundadores do grupo foram François Auger e José Bartel. Eles lançaram apenas um álbum - "Jupiter Sunset" (também chamado de "Back in the sun") - em 1970, antes de ressurgirem em 1977, na onda da disco music, com o nome de Jupiter Sunset Band.

O enredo do álbum consiste em entrelaçar novelas sobre Sadko, personagem do ciclo épico de Novgorod, cuja história começa com o fato de o herói deixar sua cidade natal em um barco em busca de uma nova vida (Novgorod), semelhante ao caráter de fonte literária. Primeiramente, ele tem que percorrer um longo caminho por mar para, depois de uma longa tempestade, desembarcar e visitar Monte Carlo.

Vale a pena notar que na literatura francesa também há um personagem homônimo - na obra "Tristan le Leonois" -, que se assemelha remotamente aos épicos de Novgorod. É possível que os músicos tenham se inspirado em ambas as fontes ao mesmo tempo. Talvez a história seja bem mais triste, pois ao longo do álbum, a execução das canções é melancólica, menor e, provavelmente, o herói lírico morre durante um naufrágio e acaba com o Rei dos Mares, permanecendo para sempre em seu cativeiro para interpretar canções, pois Sadko foi um gusle famoso antes de sua carreira como um rico comerciante que "comprou todo o Novo-Grad".

Na capa está presumivelmente a Catedral Santa Sofia de Novgorod, ou uma sem nome. As harmonias vocais e o uso abundante do mellotron lembram bandas como The Moody Blues, Aphrodite's Child e Procol Harum. No Brasil a música "Back in the sun" ganhou uma versão da banda The Fevers, intitulada "Eu e o sol", de 1971. O álbum "Back in the sun" foi produzido por Frederick Leibovitz.

HISTORY

Jupiter Sunset was a little-known French band that sang in English as well as Russian ("Novgorod"). The founders of the group were François Auger and José Bartel. They released just one album - "Jupiter Sunset" (also called "Back in the sun") - in 1970, before resurfacing in 1977, on the disco wave, as the Jupiter Sunset Band.

The album's plot consists of intertwining novels about Sadko, a character from the Novgorod epic cycle, whose story begins with the hero's leaving his hometown on a boat in search of a new life (Novgorod), similar to the literary source character. First, he has to travel a long way by sea to, after a long storm, disembark and visit Monte Carlo.

It is worth noting that in French literature there is also an eponymous character - in the work "Tristan le Leonois" -, which remotely resembles the Novgorod epics. It is possible that the musicians drew inspiration from both sources at the same time. Perhaps, the story is much sadder, because throughout the album, the execution of the songs is melancholy, minor and, probably, the lyrical hero dies during a shipwreck and ends up with the King of the Seas, remaining forever in his captivity to interpret songs, for Sadko was a famous gusle before his career as a wealthy merchant who "bought up all of Novo-Grad".

On the cover is presumably the Saint Sophia Cathedral of Novgorod, or an unnamed one. The vocal harmonies and abundant use of mellotron are reminiscent of bands like The Moody Blues and Aphrodite's Child and Procol Harum. In Brazil the song "Back in the sun" won a version of the band The Fevers, entitled "Eu e o sol", from 1971. The album "Back in the sun" was produced by Frederick Leibovitz.
