In Spe (Progressive Jazz/Fusion/Chamber Rock {Estônia})

In Spe tem uma história interessante. São basicamente duas bandas diferentes de alta qualidade. Ambas as versões refletem a visão de um líder enigmático. A primeira encarnação foi fundada por Erkki-Sven Tüür, que passou a ser um dos principais compositores clássicos do mundo. Ele começou a criar um estilo de música chamado "chamber rock". Com a ajuda do baterista Arvo Urb, do guitarrista Riho Sibul, do tecladista Mart Metsala, do baixista Toivo Kopli, do flautista Peeter Brambat e de sua esposa Anne Tüür no piano, a primeira banda foi formada. A banda fez shows e gravou, ao mesmo tempo que construiu uma reputação estelar.

Em 1983 eles lançaram o aclamado, mas raro, debut auto-intitulado. Isto, juntamente com a sua notoriedade existente, constituiria a base para eles serem vistos como os padrinhos do prog da Estônia. Alguns se referem a ele como uma das melhores gravações prog de todos os tempos. Apenas 3000 cópias foram feitas.

A banda tomaria um rumo drástico perto do final de 1983, quando Tüür partiu para estudar música em tempo integral. Entra o tecladista e estudante de música, Alo Mattiisen. Seu estilo jazzístico mudaria a direção da banda, mas não diminuiria a qualidade.

Sob sua liderança eles lançaram em 1985 o segundo álbum, que também leva o nome da banda em sua capa, apresentando a eclética "Concerto para máquina de escrever em D maior". A peça realmente usa uma máquina de escrever manual como um instrumento de percussão. Este álbum teve uma distribuição muito maior do que seu antecessor. O que também levou a alguma confusão. As pessoas que ouviram as histórias do primeiro lançamento se depararam com algo bem diferente.

As gravações estão disponíveis, mas ainda são raras. O lançamento da Musea em 1994 do segundo álbum é considerado de baixa qualidade. Em 1999, o primeiro álbum foi lançado em CD, e algumas das óperas-rock de Mattiisen (realizadas por In Spe) foram lançadas em 2000.

In Spe has an interesting story. They are basically two different bands of high quality. Both versions reflect the vision of an enigmatic leader. The first incarnation was founded by Erkki-Sven Tüür, who became one of the world's leading classical composers. He began to create a style of music called "chamber rock". With the help of drummer Arvo Urb, guitarist Riho Sibul, keyboardist Mart Metsala, bassist Toivo Kopli, flute player Peeter Brambat and his wife Anne Tüür on piano, the first band was formed. The band did shows and recorded, while at the same time building a stellar reputation.

In 1983 they released the acclaimed, but rare, self-titled debut. This, along with their existing notoriety, would form the basis for them to be seen as the godfathers of the prog of Estonia. Some refer to it as one of the best prog recordings of all time. Only 3000 copies were made.

The band would take a drastic turn towards the end of 1983, when Tüür set out to study full-time music. Enter the keyboardist and music student, Alo Mattiisen. His jazz style would change the direction of the band, but it would not diminish the quality.

Under his leadership they released in 1985 the second album, which also bears the band's name on its cover, featuring the eclectic "Concert for typewriter in D major". The piece actually uses a manual typewriter as a percussion instrument. This album had a much larger distribution than its predecessor. Which also led to some confusion. People who heard the stories of the first release came across something quite different.

Recordings are available, but they are still rare. The 1994 release by Musea of the second album is considered of poor quality. In 1999, the first album was released on CD, and some of the Mattiisen rock operas (performed by In Spe) were released in 2000.
