O grupo foi formado em 1968 por
Cy Nicklin junto com Prehn, Lyng, Jess Stæhr
Nielsen (todos os três eram ex-membros do
grupo beat The Maniacs) e Hendrik Friis. Durante
os primeiros meses de atividade eles lançaram
um single e escreveram a trilha sonora de "Stine
og drengene", antes de Nicklin sair para se
juntar à Culpeper's Orchard.
Com o novo vocalista Hans Lauridsen,
a Day of Phoenix gravou seu primeiro álbum
em Copenhague com Tony Reeves (da Coliseum)
como produtor. Seu som era uma mistura
incomum (e altamente ambiciosa) de
influências da costa oeste dos EUA
(particularmente "Anthem for the
sun", da Grateful Dead), folk-rock rural
e o som jazzístico da Burnin' Red Ivanhoe
da Dinamarca.
Após a primeira divisão da Burnin' Red Ivanhoe,
Ole Fick, Stæhr e Andersen se juntaram à Day of
Phoenix, já reorganizada, em junho de 1972.
Seu novo álbum, "The neighbour's son" foi
uma decepção com canções de rock
que não tinham faísca e energia.

The group was formed in 1968 by

With new vocalist Hans Lauridsen,
Day of Phoenix recorded their first album
in Copenhagen with Tony Reeves (from the
Coliseum) as a producer. His sound was an
unusual (and highly ambitious) mix of
West Coast influences from the USA
(particularly "Anthem for the sun" of
Grateful Dead), country folk-rock
and the jazzy sound of Denmark's
Burnin' Red Ivanhoe.
After the first division of Burnin'
Red Ivanhoe, Ole Fick, Stæhr and
Andersen joined Day of Phoenix, already
reorganized, in June of 1972. Their new album,
"The neighbor's son" was a disappointment with
rock songs that had no spark and energy.

Comprei este disco em Cd lacrado, nos 90 no escuro na Modern Sound, só manuseando e ví que não ia perder, quando OUví , pagou a grana.
