Jeronimo foi uma banda alemã de hard rock

estúdio entre 1970 e 1972.

HISTÓRIA

Jeronimo foi fundada em 1969 por Rainer Marz (guitarra solo, vocal), Gunnar Schäfer (baixo, vocal) e Ringo Funk (bateria, vocal principal). Seus dois primeiros singles lançados em 1969 e 1970, "Heya" e "Na, na, hey, hey", tornaram-se sucessos em vários países europeus.

Em 1970, a Jeronimo excursionou com sucesso pela Alemanha com a Steppenwolf. O mesmo se apresentou no lendário Progressive Pop Festival em Colônia. Depois disso, Jeronimo dividiu as manchetes com grupos como Deep Purple e Golden Earring em vários festivais europeus ao ar livre. Nos dias 9 e 11 de junho de 1970, a banda representou a Alemanha no concurso Barbarela de Conjuntos 70, realizado na Discoteca Barbarela, em Maiorca, mas foi desclassificada por fazer prorrogação.

O primeiro lançamento de estúdio da Jeronimo foi um vinil rosa dividido com a Creedence Clearwater Revival chamado "Spirit orgaszmus", que foi um sucesso em toda a Europa. Todas as seis faixas da Jeronimo fizeram parte do longplay de estréia da banda, "Cosmic blues" de 1970, lançado pelo selo Bellaphone. Sua música foi descrita como "o encontro da Cream com a The Kinks". Em 1971, a maior actuação da Jeronimo em Lausanne para a UNICEF foi transmitida pela televisão para todo o mundo. Jeronimo pôde ser vista em vários programas de televisão europeus, e na Alemanha a banda esteve no Hits a Gogo, Beatclub e Bananas.

Em 1971 Rainer Marz deixou a banda e, com Michael Koch, a banda lançou seu segundo álbum, intitulado simplesmente "Jeronimo". O segundo álbum é o mais pesado da banda, trazendo clássicos como "Sunday's child", "How I'd love to be home" e "Silence of the night".

O terceiro álbum, "Time ride", lançado em 1972 marcou a mudança de gravadora da banda, tendo agora seu álbum lançado pelo selo Bacillus Records. O álbum, com tendências progressivas, mostrou-se o mais experimental e poderoso da banda, trazendo faixas memoráveis como "Time ride", "There are people" e "To be alone". No entanto, também foi o último lançamento.

DEPOIS DA JERONIMO

Entre 1999 e 2000, os sucessos "Heya" e "Na, na, hey, hey" foram relançados em inúmeras compilações de sucessos. Após algumas negociações com a gravadora de Frankfurt, Ringo Funk adquiriu com sucesso os direitos de todas as músicas de Jeronimo em novembro de 2000. Na primavera de 2002, 4 CD's ("Jeronimo", "Cosmic blues", "Time ride" e "The best of Jeronimo") foram lançados, remasterizados digitalmente a partir das gravações originais, com faixas bônus em cada um dos CDs. A formação original se reuniu em 2001 para tocar ao vivo, mas nenhum material novo foi lançado.

HISTORY

Jeronimo was founded in 1969 by Rainer Marz (lead guitar, vocal), Gunnar Schäfer (bass guitar, vocal) and Ringo Funk (drums, lead vocal). Its first two singles released in 1969 and 1970, "Heya" and "Na, na, hey, hey", became hits in several European countries.

In 1970 Jeronimo toured successfully through Germany with Steppenwolf. The same it performed at the legendary Progressive Pop Festival in Cologne. Following that, Jeronimo shared the headlines with such groups as Deep Purple and Golden Earring at various European open-air festivals. On June 9 and 11, 1970, they represented Germany in the Barbarela de Conjuntos 70 contest held at the Barbarela Discotheque in Mallorca, but was disqualified for running overtime.

Jeronimo's first studio release was a pink vinyl split with Creedence Clearwater Revival called "Spirit orgaszmus", which was a success throughout Europe. All six of Jeronimo's tracks were part of the band's debut longplay, 1970's "Cosmic blues", released on the label Bellaphone. Its music was described as "Cream meets The Kinks". In 1971, Jeronimo's biggest stage-performance in Lausanne for UNICEF was televised worldwide. Jeronimo could be seen in numerous European television shows, and in Germany the band was on Hits a Gogo, Beatclub and Bananas.

In 1971 Rainer Marz left the band and, with Michael Koch the band released its second album, simply titled "Jeronimo". The second album is the band's heaviest, featuring classics such as "Sunday's child", "How I'd love to be home" and "Silence of the night".

The third album, "Time ride", released in 1972 marked the band's change of record label, now having its album released on the Bacillus Records label. The album, with progressive tendencies, proved to be the band's most experimental and powerful, featuring memorable tracks such as "Time ride", "There are people" and "To be alone". However, it was also the last release.

AFTER JERONIMO

Between 1999 and 2000, the hits "Heya" and "Na, na, hey, hey" were re-released on numerous hit-compilations. After some negotiations with the record company in Frankfurt, Ringo Funk successfully acquired the rights to all of Jeronimo's songs in November 2000. In the spring of 2002, 4 CD's ("Jeronimo", "Cosmic blues", "Time ride" and "The best of Jeronimo") were released, digitally remastered from the original recordings, with bonus tracks on each of the CD's. The original line-up reunited in 2001 to play live, but no new material has been released.
